The music world is rife with joy now that Grizzly Bear has announced a new album and a tour to go along with it, too. Painted Ruins arrives on August 18th via RCA. As for those tour dates, take a gander at them, here. Today, the Brooklyln band has unleashed a new track to follow up on lead single Three Rings. Mourning Sound, despite its name, is the more uptempo one out of the two with propulsive beats and a rich blooming aesthetic. You can snag the gem from iTunes and pre-order the album, here.

Fans of Brooklyn rock veterans Grizzly Bear were stirred into a frenzy this past week as the band teased them endlessly regarding new music. Today, all that suspense comes to an end as the Ed Droste lead art rock quartet unveils a new dose of their signature sophistication in the form of murky psychedelic new single Three Rings. It’s a warped bewitching, viscous and amorphous listen and it comes with much desired news of an impending album, though no details have been revealed just yet. We’re more than content waiting for further news now that we can lose ourselves in the intricate detail and tightly woven pleats of Three Rings. The single is available now on iTunes.

A very surprising collaboration that appeared today is Long Way Home, which features a triple power team composed of super producer Diplo, Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend, and Edward Droste of Grizzly Bear. It seems like a very odd match up of amazing talent, but Long Way Home is such a fantastic, intoxicating gem. They utilize the beat from Ty Dolla $ign’s Stand For, which was crafted by Diplo and DJ Dahi. There’s an ethereal quality to the wispy song.

German deep house duo Lakechild craft a beautiful remix out of Australian folk act The Paper Kites’ Featherstone, and its such a sublime, soothing listen. I was just watching Milky Chance live last night (which was fantastic), and thinking about how fine of a line there is nowadays between folk music and electronic music, with all the tropical house and melodic house we get now from producers (and with how upbeat folk itself can be, like in Milky Chance’s case). Lakechild certainly makes this The Paper Kites song their own, flawlessly transitioning into those chill, melodic regions, and making the song seem like it was meant to be heard this way. The duo also remixed Angus & Julia Stone’s Grizzly Bear a couple months ago, and it’s another blissful, summery must listen. Check it out below.

In one of the more surprising remixes to come out of today, Diplo took Grizzly Bear’s beautiful song Will Calls and created an eargasm of an electronic track. You might recall that Will Calls was a B side on the reissue of critically acclaimed 2012 album Shields. It may seem a bizarre match up, but wobbly, beat infused remix is some seriously good stuff. Revisit the emotional, cathartic original below.

Brooklyn indie psych rockers Grizzly Bear are gearing up to release a deluxe version of excellent 2012 album Shields come November 12. On it will be a previously unreleased track titled Listen and Wait. It’s a calming, baroque pop leaning, somber song filled with lush, wintery instrumentals that would’ve fit right in with the standard edition of Shields.
