You Don’t Own Me is a spectacular song from new Australian singer songwriter Grace. It’s a stunning re-working of Lesley Gore hit You Don’t Own Me. The 60′s pop artist recently passed away, and I have mad respect for her artistry, plus I harbor fond memories of listening to her hits with my mom, while growing up. Lesley really laid the foundation for most of the female pop sensations of our time. Grace’s passionate version features Oakland hip hop artist G-Eazy on guest rap vocals, and it’s a compelling combination. I never thought I’d encounter a hip hop imbued You Don’t Own Me, complete with all of its minor key, spaghetti Western styled vintage splendor. All I need are some wicked boots, and I’m ready to strut around to this tune.

A month ago, London quartet Zola Blood swooped mysteriously out of nowhere with moody electronic pop song Grace, and it made an indelible mark on me from the get go, as it did with many others, it seems. They’re back with a new one, Meridian, also a breathtaking and haunting piece full of ambient texture and ensnaring moodiness. It’s a hushed, beautiful song that carries a minimalist beat that seems to sync with the pumping of my heart. Meridian is the title track of a debut EP that will be out come October on Pond Life. Revisit the heartwrenching, dark Grace below, with all its electrifying splendor.

I seriously dig this dark debut single from mysterious London act Zola Blood. New video means a re-share, so more of you might catch on to this if you missed it the last time around. Grace is an electropop song with such slow burning moodiness and spacious, atmospheric production. There’s a heaviness to the synths that creates a burdened, suffocating feeling, but in such a pleasurable way, successfully capturing the weight of emotion, not unlike how SOHN is able to do so on his electronic pop music. I’m really curious to hear more from Zola Blood, to say the least.

For an utterly moving and dark experience, tune into this amazing debut, Grace, by mysterious new London act Zola Blood. The moody electronic pop song is stunning with its breathtaking, mellifluous vocals and slinking, gut wrenching electronic production. It’s one of those works of sonic art that is so beautiful, it hurts. It certainly appeals to that part of me that’s a gigantor fan of SOHN this year.

Canadian production duo Bob Moses (now based in New York) released the audio for their shadowy single Grace, which is a deeply hypnotic song that opens up simply with a repetitive bass groove, then slowly flowers with some lush, vocal and guitar driven electronic soul. Grace will release July 29 as a double A side with I Ain’t Gonna Be The First To Cry on Domino. Stream I Ain’t Gonna Be The First To Cry below, which delves even deeper into their unique and mesmerizing R&B inflected deep house sound, perfect for late night introspection.
