It was a long wait, but London Grammar’s sophomore album Truth Is A Beautiful Thing finally arrived this year, and the English trio once again took our collective breaths away with their operatic dream pop and orchestral trip hop, lead by Hannah Reid’s pure and flawless voice. Standout album cut Hell To The Liars gets turned a completely different direction as North London house and garage duo Gorgon City transforms it into a deep pounding, dark pumping club jam. It’s a glorious remix whose rumbling bass and propulsive booming beats are a stark thrilling contrast to Hannah’s high flying, aerial diving voice.

I told you I’d be sharing more tracks from the bundle of official remixes that dropped recently for Duke Dumont and Gorgon City’s Real Life. Not only do I love the original, which features emerging Australian duo NAATIONS on guest vocals, but the edits that came out last week have been bringing me much sonic pleasure and aural thrills, too. We’ve already partaken in Dillon Francis’ vivacious remix together. Let’s now turn to a drum and bass remix by Belgian label owner, radio host, and DJ/production talent Murdock. There’s no resisting this vibrant and swift drum and bass rolls. His remix conserves the classy chic UK house feel of the original but gives it some extra oomph with its staggered waves upon waves of beats and percussion. It  feels like Disclosure, AlunaGeorge, and Rudimental got together on the track. You can stream the rest of the official Real Life remixes that surfaced last week on Duke Dumont’s Soundcloud, here.

I was absolutely stoked when Duke Dumont partnered up with Gorgon City a few weeks ago to drop smash summer hit Real Life. Not only is that a conjoining of massive dance music talent, but this slice of Balearic sunset dance euphoria also features rising Australian duo NAATIONS, whom we’ve been supporting big time since they made their debut nearly a year ago (and we can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled we are that they’re making their SF debut at Popscene in October alongside Terror Jr on my birthday weekend). A handful of phenomenal remixes of Real Life just dropped a few days ago, amongst which comes this remix by Dillon Francis. The edit starts off like a classic house track, and you can’t help but wonder, has Dillon Francis toned down his high voltage sound? Don’t worry, soon enough, Dillon Francis jacks up the energy on the song and gets dirty. This Real Life starts jabbing and whizzing, stabbing and quaking with resolute strength, all the while still staying chic and stylish despite the new griminess. The new official remixes that have surfaced for Real Life also include edits by Kilter, Murdock, and Terrace Dub. Stay tuned and you just might find us sharing more of these tracks. For now, you can do some discovering on your own and stream them on Duke Dumont’s Soundcloud, here.

If you haven’t heard Duke Dumont and Gorgon City’s summer hit Real Life yet, the new video they dropped this week is the perfect chance to get down to the buoyant banger. Plus, the stylish bop features Australian duo NAATIONS, that exciting project consisting of Van She’s Nicky Night Time and singer songwriter Nat Dunn whom we’ve been extolling this past year. Real Life was inspired by the beautiful Balearic setting of Ibiza. The official description of the song’s video states: “The video draws influence from the dystopian world that social media could create, delivering a visual experience not dissimilar to an episode of Black Mirror. Influenced by high school experiences, the video, directed by Ben & Ross (Kurupt FM, Ed Sheeran, Disclosure) highlights today’s obsession with likes, selfies and emojis. Reflecting on the track’s powerful sound and message of experiencing ‘Real Life’, the video comes to a head at a school prom when the shy girl being bullied harnesses technology and uses it to destroy the hierarchy of popularity, resulting in her becoming Prom Queen instead.” You can download and stream this massive pop and dance crossover hit, here.

It’s 3am State side and I have to share ‘All Four Walls’ by a favorite of mine – Gorgon City. It’s their newest track featuring Vaults and as someone commented on their soundcloud post ‘Classic Gorgon House’. I love it. The artwork, it appears to me to be some sort of serpent, possibly following the same Medusa-like cover art for their album Sirens. After seeing them several times, and fellow English mates Rudimental, I am extremely anxious to see them both together at The Fox Theater in Oakland. Excited!

It’s been a minute, but UK duo Gorgon City have returned! And they bring along hotly buzzing British singer songwriter RØMANS along with them on the fantastic first taste from their forthcoming sophomore album. Saving My Life quickly proves that the duo are going to handle following up killer debut album SIRENS with ease. Saving My Life is infinitely catchy. ROMANS’ sleek vocals are the perfect match to Gorgon City’s slick beats and bouncy bass. Saving My Life will be out as a single tomorrow, August 18th. It was revealed today with some live video footage.

If Zak Abel sounds at all familiar to you, it may be due to the fact that the UK crooner was featured on one of Gorgon City’s spectacular recent hits, Unmissable. With a smooth voice that comes off pristine and impeccable, there’s no doubt we’re going to be hearing a lot more about this talented artist in 2015. He recently released his irresistible solo single These Are The Days. Thefunkified, soulful treat is like a sexy mix of Justin Timberlake and John Newman.

Hot UK duo Gorgon City’s Unmissable is getting some sick remix treatments lately. I last shared a Le P remix which pulled it in a tropical direction. Today I give you Tasmanian producer Akouo’s remix, out on Neon Records. The heavy bass and bouncy future production is so satisfying and entrancing, while the track retains a summery, mellow atmosphere.

Le P brings the summery, chill house vibes back with his new track, a blissful remix of Gorgon City’s Unmissable. The producer takes the terrific UK house tune and gives it plenty of tropical sunset hues. I can certainly dig an islandy Gorgon City with some gently buoyant bass and endless good feels.

UK duo Gorgon City’s debut album SIRENS has shaped up to be a brilliant release, with stunner after stunner tune. The album’s not out yet in the US, sadly, but we get to listen to another treat off the release in the form of a house cover of Drake’s Doing It Wrong. The cover features London songstress Liv on vocals, and its booming bass line and Gorgon City’s slick production makes for an enamoring, soulful rendition.
