It’s been a long moment since we heard from Detroit duo Gosh Pith, a unique and captivating act that first lured me in with a magnificent song named Waves over a year ago. Though Waves might always be my favorite Gosh Pith song, the versatile duo’s latest have me drifting in ponderous reverie. Gold Chain is gritty and smokey, a languorous and sleepy eyed song that ventures deeper into hip hop territory than Gosh Pith has gone before. Gosh Pith describes the mellow jam as a “ratchet love song about the constant conflict between the meaningful and the meaningless”. The hazy swirler will be on a forthcoming new EP, due early next year ahead of their upcoming shows in Chicago, Brooklyn, and Detroit.

I love it when acts I adore team up on new music, and 99 out of 100 times, their brilliance compliment each other perfectly on the collaborations. It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from New York’s Black Coast, but it hasn’t been that long since we’ve heard from Nashville’s REMMI, who recently teamed up with another act I’m fond of, Lucian, on internet chart topping, haunting single Bobby K. Black Coast and REMMI unite on dark electropop single Gold Chain, which thrashes and pulses with a muggy, summery atmosphere. Despite that smoldering heat, there’s an edgy darkness to Gold Chain that I find irresistible. Gold Chain boasts a sultry dance punk vibe that reminds me of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but far more synthy and electrified. Download Gold Chain for free, here.
