What’s that, you say? A surpise new EP from Slow Magic? Yes, please! The masked enigma, a superb producer through and through, has shared a new four track release named EP on Downtown Records, just ahead of his Coachella weekend 2 performance tomorrow. Chilled out future bass, jagged drumwork, and molten vocals by New York’s TOULOUSE adorn EP track GO, our favorite out of AWAY’s four crisp melodic tracks. When it comes to local music, there’s no denying that San Francisco based electro-pop artist and producer SUMif has been a breakout artist to watch. I still can’t get enough of her icy pulsing hit Lay Down, from over a year ago, which I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing live many a time, and now Steph Wells, the musician behind the magic, has released her eight track debut EP, Pretty Cage. The addictive collection of versatile electronic pop songs are a sure sign of a massive year ahead for SUMif as she prepares to return to Popscene at the Rickshaw Stop this Friday to celebrate the EP release with a co-headline set. From the three new songs premiered on Pretty Cage comes this sleek polished, cool throbbing aria, Go. Dark panoramic synths endow Go’s crisp and contagious electropop. It’s an effortless performance whose lavish production and sophisticated arrangement is thoroughly captivating, even abutting into dance and electronic territory with its future bass like rolls. SUMif’s EP Pretty Cage can be streamed on Soundcloud, here. Support on iTunes, here. Catch her at Popscene this Friday with Saro and fellow Bay Area project vverevvolf, details, here.

I’ve been waiting for this dreamy diaphanous gem from Yowler to go off embargo for a requisite share. Well, today’s the lucky day we all get to sway wistfully to Go, the latest solo offering from All Dogs and Saintseneca’s Maryn Jones. She doles out candid aching, saccharine melting bedroom pop on the soft & subdued hymnal. Go is one of two new songs that will be on a re-issued version of Yowler’s debut album The Offer, out June 16th via Double Double Whammy. Pre-order, here.

A touch of Italo disco permeates Hugh’s latest single, a ravishing fusion of deep house and svelte electro pop named Go. It’s a lavish and extravagant gem from the four piece from London who are preparing for the release of their debut album, ‘Love, Hugh’. Sizzling synths and a piquant beat make Go a steamy twirler that leaves my heart racing and my breaths heavy. Vocalist Izzy Brooks wrote Go after meeting a boy who made her feel like she was underwater with his hypnotic hold. The gilded summer spinner adds fuel to the excitement brewing for debut album ‘Love, Hugh’, out on May 25th.

I’m hypnotized and entranced by Go, a florid new work of sonic art from singer songwriter, producer, and classically trained multi-instrumentalist Elderbrook. The English artist, who’s already given us a bounty of magnificent tunes in the past, has forged an experimental electronic song with soulful vocals and deep rapacious beats that remind me of a babbling brook bubbling over its banks. The meditative brooder is much bewitching, evoking Fyfe and LANKS in the process. There’s a restless desperation to the song, whose story is about someone close leaving. Elderbrook will be releasing a new EP this summer, and he’ll be continuing to tour across North America and Europe, too.

I HEART MOOSIQ PREMIERE:

I must thank the ever talented and wonderful LostBoyCrow for pointing his buddies VALKA my way, because their music has swept me right off my feet. The band, from Los Angeles, will be releasing their debut album next week, and the first single off the record is an epic indie rock and alt pop number named Go. Go is a soaring burst of cinematic vitality, a whirlwind of spirited emotion. It’s a sensationally gripping listen with the stadium ready, orchestral breadth of Coldplay and the heart swelling ardor of acts like COAST and Bastille, but with an extra dose of earthy, unpretentious sincerity. The trio describe their music as featuring a dynamic range of folk-pop melodies on a backdrop of sweeping orchestral and electronic soundscapes. Head over to the band’s website to learn more about them and their coming album.

The opening bars of Pleasure Beach’s debut song, Go, carries such warm and leisurely synthwave flourish, I was pretty much sold immediately. Then their spunky Arcade Fire like vocals hit and all of a sudden I’m bouncing along in my seat to an infectious, snappy gem of a first song from the British newcomers. Go’s pillowy, dreamy electronic atmosphere is punctuated with some charming, playful guitar riffs. It’s an altogether fantastic and addicting first offering from the quintet.

Superstar producer Diplo has been showing his versatile colors lately, collaborating with Skrillex, dropping syrupy tracks for people to rap over, and now, remixing gothy pop act Zola Jesus’ Go (Blank Sea). The original is off of Zola Jesus’ recent new album Taiga, a fantastic listen, if you haven’t checked it out yet. Diplo’s remix is a sumptuous bass heavy edit. The trappy, future remix even reminds me of Wave Racer at times, but paired with Zola Jesus’ enchanting, melodramatic vocals. Prior to today, I never thought of Zola Jesus and Diplo together in one song, but now, I’ve been educated. Zola Jesus and Diplo go very well together.

Tennessee singer songwriter Meg Myers premiered a new music video today for her song Go, which is off her fantastic Make A Shadow EP, out earlier this year. I’m still very much enamored with Meg’s incredibly dark rock style. She’s strikingly intense and mesmerizing on the explosive yet haunting songs, which carry over right into her live performance, as I was lucky enough to experience. Meg’s vocals alternate between very satisfying, roaring screaming and raspy, seductive beauty. While I’m deeply fond of Go, my all time favorite Meg Myers song is still Heart Heart Head. If you missed the creepy video for that last year, watch below the video for Go. In some ways, Meg Myers reminds me of Alanis Morissette, but far, far more edgy, spunky, and dark.
