A show invite sitting pretty in my inbox was my very first introduction to Titus Makin, albeit belatedly compared to the many fans he must have gained after having starred in the television show Glee. The Honolulu native has also made appearances on CW’s Star-Crossed and hit shows like Pretty Little Liars, NCIS, and more. Unfortunately, I can’t make his show in Los Angeles next week, but I can share with you his brand new single Suicide, so we can all swoon to his sleek satiny vocals and vivacious R&B pop. The video that comes with Suicide is a highly saturated feast for the eyes, with popping colors and Titus Makin’s charisma on full display.  Makin’s first two singles, Ropes and Good Love, garnered much acclaim across the board last year. Stream Ropes below in case you missed it before, like we did, and marvel at its sweeping pop vivacity. Titus Makin will be playing The Sayers Club in Los Angeles on February 8th. Follow Titus on his website, here.

I’m sorry to say but I was never able to set aside the time to be swept up by the Glee craze a few years ago. Samuel Larsen’s spectacular voice swept me up when I listened to his new single Blue today, and it wasn’t till a lot later after I’ve selected him for a share that I found out that the Los Angeles based San Francisco born Mexican-Danish artist was involved in both Glee and The Glee Project. On Blue, Sam combines blues, funk, rock, and pop into a honeyed yet raw emulsion brimming with lovelorn emotion. Blue is his first release of the year. As Sam describes it: “Blue is about being perfectly in love while also being perfectly incompatible, a lullaby to the confused & hopeless romantics doused in nostalgia and funk.” For more Samuel Larsen, let’s partake in sexy funk jam You Should Know below. This one really sets that bedroom tone.

OFFICIAL VID: The Killers – Just Another Girl

November 26, 2013

I suppose the cool new The Killers video is a requisite share. Just Another Girl is one of two new tracks on their greatest hits compilation Direct Hits, out right now. It’s the perfect example of that heartache inducing heartland Vegas rock that we’ve come to love about this band. The new video for the song stars Glee’s Dianna Agron. It’s a very imaginative video that employs her in recreating scenes from various music videos throughout the band’s career. She takes the place of Brandon Flowers in recognizable setting after another. I agree that Brandon Flowers is one pretty man, but he sure got even prettier! It’s fun trying to name all the songs for which videos are referenced in the clip.
