The name of GIRL FRIEND’s new song is quite a mouthful, but the single itself is a warm earful of rhapsodic joy. “At This Time Of Year, At This Time Of Night” leaves my heart aflutter with its satin sleek, effulgent pumping synthpop. The Manchester based duo just keep churning out ace tunes, and this one’s no different with its new wavey shimmering dance pop hooks. In case you forgot how fabulous GIRL FRIEND’s prior nostalgia laden treats have been, check them out on Soundcloud.

To be honest, I’m still deeply obsessed with Tragic On The Dancefloor, GIRL FRIEND’s last luscious grooving single. But I can’t help but be taken in by their latest treat, a disco pumping pop spectacular named Call Me If You’re Lonely. I swear the Manchester duo are writing a biography about me with their song titles. After all, what’s the best remedy for loneliness and solitude? Great music, of course! Get ready to boogie down to GIRL FRIEND’s sleek synthpop and electro chic dance rock, a recipe that tends to remind me of other fabulously vibrant projects like Hot Chip and Van She among others.

British producer Louis la Roche has remixed one of my favorite songs by Manchester synthpop duo GIRL FRIEND, namely their most recent single, Tragic On The Dancefloor. The original is already so mega catchy, a disco inflected, sultry grooving, peppy fun synthpop glider that may very well describe my own lack of skill on the dance floor. Yet, I can’t help but want to hit that dance floor up as I twirl away euphorically to Louis la Roche’s indie dance remix. Bust out your smooth disco moves for this one, you’re going to want to dance all night to this feel good mix. The producer takes full advantage of the original’s irresistible hooks, giving us a wonderfully uplifting, ebulliently upbeat summer makeover.

For a second, I allowed myself to be vain and thought Tragic On The Dancefloor might be a song about me, considering my absence of skills when it comes to getting down to music. But of course, GIRL FRIEND’s latest song is far too good to have anything to do with my own dance skills. The Manchester based duo offer up a lusciously grooving, disco inflected, peppy fun synthpop glider in the form of their new treat. GIRL FRIEND explains that the song is about feeling self-conscious in an environment where you’re expected to be having fun. Come to think of it, maybe this is a song about me, or the droves of fellow human beings who likely feel the same way I do at various times. Tragic On The Dancefloor’s silken vocals and uplifting cadence bring to mind sleek dance pop treats offered up by acts like Hot Chip and Van She. I’m ready to throw caution to the wind so I can be tragic on the dance floor right now to the lush euphoria of GIRL FRIEND.

Manchester synthpop duo GIRL FRIEND quickens my pulse with a throbbing new gem named Nocturnal. As someone who is truly nocturnal when it comes to staying up late at night, I know I can turn to GIRL FRIEND to keep my night shimmering bright and peppy. In fact, I have a feeling I’ll be dancing around my living room late tonight to this hooking, bouncing 80′s inflected song. The duo once again remind me of Hot Chip, Joywave, and Van She with the upbeat new song. Don’t ever stop regaling us with songs like this, GIRL FRIEND, “don’t you ever stop”.

Get ready for some sizzling hot synthpop, courtesy of Manchester’s GIRL FRIEND, who sweep me off my feet with the blazing luminosity and heated passion of Waste My Time. There’s a Cheat Codes like sparkling summer dance quality to the grooving indie track, with the addition of sleek, silken Shura like sultriness. It’s obvious that GIRL FRIEND is never a waste of my time. Head over to Soundcloud to revisit some of their previous offerings.

Girl Friend bring sultry passion in spades as always on their new song Good Morning, a “pulsing celebration of idle hours and alone time the morning after an uplifting night before”. I have plenty of those after wild nights out catching live music, but I enjoy both equally, and Girl Friend encapsulates that with the dancey seducer. The Manchester based quartet, with their silken vocals and retro beats, remind me heavily of a blend of Hot Chip and Van She with the glossy anthem. I’m going to listen to this every morning after my alarm goes off, to give myself a jump start.

For an epic dose of synthpop music, we turn to Manchester’s Girl Friend. They bring us a sexy new dance funk treat named Poison. Its sizzling heat and venomous gleam are indeed toxic in a seductive fashion, like a glistening, scintillating blend of Chromeo, Friendly Fires, and Passion Pit. Poison is an opulent ode to lust, passion, danger, and desire. The red hot jam is the quartet’s first since their excellent Arrive Along Leave Alone EP.
