We’ve no doubt grown accustomed to Ember Island’s adept ability to deliver amazing covers of classic songs and massive hits, with their latest jaw dropping track a breathtaking and cinematic re-imagination of Radiohead standard Creep. As always, Ember Island’s atmospheric re-makes lead to immense remixes, with Southern California’s Gill Chang offering up the first transformation of the transcendental cover. The gingerly clattering future bass and softly foaming chill trap remix was premiered by NEST HQ, and it’s out of this world. It shoots across the celestial sky, a sonic beauty too divine with feels too boundless to be of this earth. Download the remix for free, here.

I tend to get very excited when I first discover talent arising out of my home, the Bay Area, and CVRSE left my heart aflutter when I stumbled upon his new original, Verana. This DJ and producer breathes new life into the local trap scene with his grandly cinematic Hudson Mohawke and Rustie evoking anthem. Verana pitches and yaws, saws and thunders, a savage and vehement sonic adventure. CVRSE recently teamed up with Gill Chang on a dreamy pensive number named Where Is My Mind, too, which can be streamed below. Verana is a free download, here, while Where Is My Mind can be copped, here.

Yes, indeed, kids! It’s another Closer remix! Hurrah! But for real, mad hurrahs all around, because Taiwanese by way of Los Angeles producer Gill Chang gives us much reason to dance and celebrate this lovely morning with his supple springing, effervescent flickering remix of The Chainsmokers’ Halsey featuring hit Closer. Gill’s mixture of future bass and house is fleecy smooth and dreamy divine. Unlike so many of the other remixes that have been popping up, this edit sticks to Halsey’s original vocals (who, by the way, turned in a mighty fine guest appearance on Showtimes’ Roadies a couple weekends ago). There’s no doubt this is one of the finest remixes of Closer that we’ve encountered so far. Cop it for free, here.

Rising young producer Steve James proved himself a great composer of original pieces when he revealed his debut single, Renaissance, late last year. The twinkling, fluttering song features vocals by much buzzing songbird Clairity. Today, we get to revisit Renaissance, thanks to a remix by North Carolina’s Gill Chang. In a way, it’s ironic to remix a song named Renaissance, since it’s like a rebirth of a rebirth, or an awakening of an awakening. This Renaissance gets a regal magnificent rebirth on Gill Chang’ remix. It whomps spaciously, harmonizes beautifully, and chops with graceful vigor. The exhilarating future bass and chill trap inspired remix is a free download, here, just in time for summer.
