My heart rate has been spiking with excitement ever since I first heard Get Inuit’s new single yesterday, but as it was under embargo at the time, I had to try and contain myself until today. The Kent four piece deliver one of this week’s best new songs in Barbiturates, a far from sedating burst of infectious power pop. Hints of The New Pornographers meets Jimmy Eat World and some raw propulsive Wavves on this scratchy thrashing jam. I can imagine Barbiturates igniting with such raucous energy at one of Get Inuit’s live shows, known for their crackling vibrancy. The band will be playing London’s Lexington on January 25th before heaing out to support Spring King on tour through February. Barbiturates is available everywhere now.

I’ll admit I’m a little hungry right now, having had a light brunch and hit the trails for some much needed fresh air and exercise. Teriyaki sounds delicious right about now. Yet all thought of food rapidly dissipates as I’m caught up by Kent four piece Get Inuit’s jangling brisk, playful rollicking new single Teriyaki. The track, which first premiered on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, is a sharp poking, buoyant hopping guitar pop and surf rock anthem with gargantuan hooks. It also boasts some mighty fun psychedelic rock flourishes. Teriyaki is set for digital release on September 2nd via Bon Nudity (self release). The lads are playing a string of shows in the UK, with some alongside Spring King, The Big Moon, The Magic Gang, and Kagoule, details here.
