Our velveteen electronica and soul faves, HONNE, has been rolling out some spectacular collaborations lately whilst teasing us with rumors of a new album. The London outfit last linked up with dashing Tom Misch to give us Me & You ◑. And now they’ve teamed up with edgy UK artist and drummer Georgia, whom you might recall we were championing quite a lot a year ago after falling hard for her dark fidgeting, gritty bristling electronic pop. We haven’t heard from Georgia since, so we’re glad to come across her unexpected cameo (and lovely voice) on HONNE’s Location Unknown ◐, a beautifully moving, swanky stirring, and luxuriantly affecting infusion of their smooth rolling, snug melting electro-soul sound. HONNE has also shared another divine new track named 306 ◑, which you can stream below. Location Unknown ◐ is available, here, while

306 ◑ is available, here. Though we still don’t have any additional information to share regarding HONNE’s next album, a world tour has been announced for later this year. Details can be found, here.

Georgia’s dark experimental pop was a straight shot for my heart when I first heard it over a year ago. I promptly ordered the young and edgy UK artist’s innovative self titled debut album. I loved every iota of that underrated and overlooked record. Not only does Georgia push the envelope when it comes to grimy bold pop and gritty bristling electronica on her songs, but she also showcases her multi-instrument and production skills. Yes, Georgia plays drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, piano, kora, and sings. In the new music video for Feel It, her latest single, she aims to inspire a new generation of drummers and musicians. Prepare to be bewitched by her fierce charisma and contagious sonic handiwork. Feel It can be purchased now from iTunes. As for Georgia, I’m ready to watch her buzz grow. After all, she’s toured with some fabulous talent this past year and she’s about to tour with the Flaming Lips. I have a feeling this is going to be her year.

There’s no doubt that retro soul is one of the flavors of the moment, considering its onslaught in pretty much every corner of music these days. Tiggs Da Author brings a very catchy, swaggering brand of grimey soul on stellar debut, Georgia, for which he’s released a sweet video this week. If you haven’t heard of this London based Tanzania native yet, you’re likely going to hear a lot about him in the coming year. Georgia is like Danger Mouse meets Leon Bridges, with some Jake Bugg and some The Black Keys, too. The feisty tune was just to the A-List on BBC 1Xtra. Tiggs Da Author is currently putting together his debut album. Georgia is available now on iTunes.

OFFICIAL VID: Georgia – Nothing Solutions

June 19, 2015

Last week, I zealously noted that London based newcomer Georgia Barnes might be the most exciting new act to come my way in a long time. I’m incredibly excited for Georgia’s self-titled debut album, out August 7th on Domino Records, a record I promptly pre-ordered upon discovering her dark, edgy, gothy music. Georgia has revealed a new song off that album, via a fresh music video. Nothing Solutions is haunting and richly layered, an electronic pop spellbinder. Still carrying slivers of an industrial vibe, this one is more of a Scandinavian pop evoker, with a woozier bassline and some The Knife like vocals and elements. I stand by my previous assertions that Georgia is a very intriguing new stand out act. Everything we’ve heard from her so far is versatile and artsy, unique and eccentric.

As someone who tends to be spellbound by edgy, ground breaking talent, particular ones that delve into the darker side of things, I can’t help but be incredibly, ridiculously excited by Londoner Georgia Barnes. I’d previously encountered her song Move Systems, but her latest envelope pushing, noisy electronic treat Be Ache is even more of an eye widening, hair raising experience (in a good way). The grimy, industrial tune drones and bursts with fantastic, lurchy movement, like a gripping fusion of PC Music, Grimes, Sleigh Bells, TR/ST, FKA Twigs, and everything in between. Georgia will be releasing a debut album come August 7th on Domino Records, and I promptly pre-ordered the record earlier today upon listening to trippy, stormy Be Ache. Catch the video for Georgia’s Move Systems below, which is more of a gritty M.I.A.-ish clattering, spunky explosion of glorious noise. I can’t wait for Georgia’s debut album.
