At first glance, the title of Weslee’s new single might be mistaken as “sweet dreams”, but this dream of a tune from the British duo is steamy and hot, with a fierce and foxy strut. Sweat Dreams is a future funk meets R&B pop jam brimming with sultry vibes and hip-swaying beats. It’s a must for fans of Nao and AlunaGeorge’s dance-inducing electro and torrid sizzling R&B soul. In the confusing flurry of SXSW lineups that keep surfacing on the daily these days, I’ve noticed that Party Pupils will be making their way out to Austin next week, too. It comes as no surprise that MAX, who’s one half of Party Pupils will also be making an appearance. That’s double the reason for some festive celebrations, and who else but the slick dance troupe is perfect for soundtracking a massive dance party with their rambunctious bangers? They’ve even teamed up with their buddy from Connecticut, esteemed DJ and producer Audien, for a fresh take on Montell Jordan classic This Is How We Do It. Is there any more appropriate track for an elite production duo like Party Pupils?  This Is How We Do It is a timeless New Jack Swing party anthem. This updated cover reboot from Party Pupils and Audien both brings the old school back and gets us grooving with its future funk dance floor energy. Plus, those fresh vocals are sizzling hot! Grab the hot jam from iTunes, here.

In the year since Captain Cuts’ suave original debut Love Like We Used To was first released, many a fine remix have surfaced. The Los Angeles production trio’s hit single, featuring frequent collaborator Nateur, is a funky sleek, lavishly opulent dance pop meets electro jam, and a fresh new edit by East Coast producer Kwon reminds us we love it just as much now as “we used to”. He gives Love Like We Used To a buttery vivacious, elastic jouncing, and bass rumbling remix. The full bodied soiree more than holds us over as we await new original music from Kwon, who promises a lot this year.

Who doesn’t love Nena’s 99 Red Balloons, originally 99 Luftballons in German? It’s an utterly infectious frolic, a timeless classic from the 80′s that never seems to get old or obsolete no matter how much time has passed. Swedish producer Oliver Nelson and fellow Swede Tobtok partner up on a revival of the track. They’ve given the endearing tune a bright and airy future funk and tropical disco re-work, featuring vocals by London’s River. 99 Red Balloons is a heartwarming, spirit lifting treat to take with us into the weekend. It’s impossible to be dour or downcast when such a buoyant and jubilant track is coursing through our ears. Grab a copy or stream via alternate platforms, here.

Late last year, mysterious new production talent Snugs made his debut with an ear turning, feet moving future bass ditty named Radio Silence, featuring honey-dipped vocals by HAILZ. It was a song that made waves in the electronic scene, racking up well over a million streams via Proximity’s label. Now, Snugs is back with warm synths, playful arpeggios, and punchy beats on another resplendent tune named Flooded, and this time around, he’s brought LA based pop singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Axel Mansoor in tow on buttery vocals. Flooded is a flood of future funky ecstasy, a flashy sleek, swanky hot banger appropriate for some snug dancing with that crush you’re so sweet on. Flight Facilities meets Duke Dumont on the sizzling tune. Stream/purchase this ace second offering from Snugs, here.

Last November, I went out and “danced on the moon” with our favorite Moving Castle heroes, Hotel Garuda, and it was pure joy leaping into the air with a colossal crowd of ecstatic people to their latest original, Dancing On The Moon, on which they even teamed up with Norwegian heavyweights Lemaitre. We’ve been waiting for a remix pack since, sure that Hotel Garuda’s luxurious oasis of smooth disco and exuberant electro funk would continue to thrive in the hands of some their gifted production buddies. Today, our hopes have been heard, our prayers answered. Three remixes of Dancing On The Moon are out, including this one by breakout Los Angeles producer JUDGE. He gives the track a darker vibe with his future funk and trap remix, turning this lunar escapade into a restlessly jostling, beats breaking extravaganza. Additional edits by Botnek and Cavego are also available for streaming, here. Support the original on iTunes, here.

Jeneaux just turned in a stellar performance on his remix of Portugal. the Man’s chart dominating single Feel It Still, which you can check out, here, and now the NYC producer is at it again. This time around, he gives us a fresh original named Sentiments, featuring soulful alt crooner Bryce Fox on incendiary vocals. The future funk and soulful pop banger is a powerhouse anthem, brimming with emotive force and anthemic choruses. Jenaux states that this record was very special to him. He made it two years ago, but couldn’t release it for a long time because of contractual obligations. We can finally stream/download Sentiments, here.

It’s been a moment since we’ve heard fresh new music from Los Angeles DJ and producer VenessaMichaels, and we’re grateful that she’s chosen to spruce up the final weeks of our year by releasing a long awaited original. She’s even teamed up with Arizona producer Olmos and enlisted former LA collaborator Effy for some saccharine vocals on rosy bouncing, slick buoyant Good Love. It’s a honeyed bloomer of a synth flickering, weightless frolicking feel good jam. Rich chords and spry beats give the track a whole lot of glamorous future funk pizzazz. Good Love, which deserves all the good loving in the world, is available from iTunes, here.

We’ve been touting Portugal. the Man’s Feel It Still as one of the best tracks of the year, so it’s been very vindicating to watch my favorite American psych rock band get nominated for a Grammy for the funky swaggering jam, which has now become the most ubiquitous and omnipresent hit of 2017. Over the course of the past several months, an insane amount of ridiculously good remixes of Feel It Still have surfaced in the music scene. But there’s always room for one more brilliant rendition, particularly when its this edit by NYC’s Jenaux. Feel It Still gets some chill dreamy feels on the languorous future funk re-work. It’s a brassy playful, jazzy chic romp with smooth glossy corners and luscious synths. Grab it for free, here.
