I rarely touch a video game console these days despite how often I found myself punching away at controls during my youth. As such, I’ve never really played EA Sports’ FIFA releases, though I’ve come to realize that its soundtracks are always in line with my own music tastes. FIFA 2018 World Cup’s trailer features a song that involves two artists we hold dear here at IHM, namely electro-soul trailblazer NoMBe and rising hip hop artist Thutmose, both of whom we were lucky to catch at SXSW earlier this year. The two combine talents to give us a frisky hip hop and funky soul jam named Run Wild, which comes off like a vivaciously cavorting combination of Pharrell, Outkast, and NVDES. You can watch the FIFA video game trailer, here. Run Wild is a whole lot of unbridled fun. It courses with infectious, untamed energy.

I can’t wait for tomorrow night to arrive, and I’ve been looking forward to it for a very long time. English wunderkind Yellow Days will be making his San Francisco debut at a long sold out Popscene at the Rickshaw Stop, with Mallrat in tow, too! It’s quite the fitting coincidence that the acclaimed artist has released a new song today too. The Way Things Change reminds us why we’ve fallen hard for his gravelly voice and his droopy, murky form of haunting lo-fi soul and acidic psychedelia. It even seems extra groovy for the artist compared to some of his more hazily drifting hymnals. Bluesy instrumentals embellish the nineteen year old prodigy‘s first music of the year. The British artist/producer is now working on his official debut album following 2017′s Harmless Melodies EP and his full length “Is Everything Okay In Your World?” project. Almost every date of Yellow Days’ international spring tour is sold out, unsurprisingly. Find out more on his website, here. The Way Things Change, out on Columbia, is available, here.

Franc Moody is a rising London based collective renowned for their hi-octane, immersive live shows. Hopefully, I’ll get to catch them live someday, particularly after dancing and twirling my heart out to their new funk-driven track, Pheromones. They truly let off some ambrosial beats and soulful charm on this groovalicious electro and disco jam, which very much reminds me of French band Her and British bands like Jungle and Formation. Franc Moody is lead by musicians Ned Franc and Jon Moody. They’ve been making quite a name for themselves both as a live band and a production outfit. Franc Moody explains that Pheromones is about attraction and reaction. Attracted, I most definitely am. My reaction? Dance, dance, dance. Pheromones is out now on Juicebox Recordings. it’s available digitally via all major outlets, here.

I’m sure many of you have already picked up on the new Tom Misch by now, as well as the announcement of his debut full length and an accompanying tour. And I’m sure you’re celebrating all the fine news alongside the London musician’s devout bounty of fans. I still remember Tom Misch’s San Francisco sold out debut at Popscene last November like it was but a few days ago. Tom’s North American leg of his tour begins at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on April 12th, and I certainly plan on being there for the show, though grabbing a ticket before the show sells out might be an uphill battle. Debut album Geography drops on April 6th. For more details regarding his tour and album, head to his website, here. But for now, let’s dive into Movie, which features Tom’s own sister Polly on vocals at the start of the song, as well as Tom’s mom Carol in the single’s artwork. Movie ‘magic’ can’t begin to describe this mellow melter. It’s a signature jazzy soul and gem from Tom Misch, with funk guitars, endless vintage vibes, and his velveteen voice. I melt into the song, and sigh the longest sigh that ever was….

If you’re one of the few music loving people in the universe who still haven’t checked out Donald Glover’s new song as Childish Gambino, prepare to have your face melted. Me And Your Mama is the first taste of Childish Gambino’s forthcoming third album, “Awaken, My Love!”, and if the song is any indication of it, this LP is going to be mind blowing. Donald pushes the boundaries of spacey funkadelia on his new single, putting his creative genius on full display. “Awaken, My Love!” is due to arrive on December 2nd. Pre-order, here.

Despite being in the midst of a national tour down in Australia,  Melbourne producer Yeo has returned with a brand new single and an accompanying music video. Frost will thaw your hearts with its foggy chill magnetism, plus it boasts the exact same sort of organic rippling refinement that drew us to this musician for the past two years. Frost defies genres with its silky funk pop and electro soul. This Chet Faker (nowadays known as Nick Murphy) and Ben Khan or Jai Paul cocktail swoons torridly and soothes dreamily. Snag the song from iTunes.
