It’s a rare occasion that we get a new track from Bonobo, and it’s such a treat whenever we do. Just listen to the acclaimed British producer’s spectacular remix of George FitzGerald’s Full Circle, featuring Boxed In. Get ready for some goosebumps and some spine tingling shivers as Bonobo takes us on one of his magical journeys. Full Circle adopts a profoundly meditative depth on the beautiful edit, submerged in introspectively shadowy atmosphere and instilled with heart string tugging, ruminative guitar. No word yet on whether the stunning remix will get a release soon. I sure hope so.

Detroit’s Quinn teams up with fellow Motor City producer Ayokay once again on new song Full Circle. It’s a match that proved itself fruitful in the past. Together, they’ve created another hip hop, pop, and soul jam that’s deeply catchy. Full Circle glows with a summery warmth and snaps with an infectious rhythm. It’s the first new release from Quinn since his Change Of Scenery EP, and it marks the coming of a slate of new singles over the next few weeks.

I believe it’s been awhile since we’ve heard a George FitzGerald original, but the UK producer is back with a new one to remind me why he captivated me a year ago. I might consider it good timing, as George Fitzgerald reminds me of Caribou at times, and I’m catching Caribou live, finally, on Sunday at the Fillmore in San Francisco. New tune Full Circle, which features Boxed In on soulful vocals, is a smooth and entrancing song. Deep house groove and a simmering intensity are fully hypnotizing. Full Circle also happens to be a first taste from George FitzGerald’s debut album, Fading Love. Fading Love will be released on April 28th via Double Six / Domino.

OFFICIAL VID: Half Moon Run – No More Losing The War

I really adored Canadian indie rock band Half Moon Run’s debut album Dark Eyes, which came out in the US last year. In fact, I believe the album to have been deeply underrated and overlooked by too many. The album boasted amazing, commanding songs from start to finish, at times reminding me of intricate music by the likes of Local Natives and Grizzly Bear. Today’s new video for dour album track No More Losing The War gives me a chance to profess my love, yet again. Revisit the video for Full Circle below, too.

Half Moon Run and Franz Ferdinand on La Blogotheque

July 17, 2013

A couple of La Blogotheque Empty Space/A Take Away Shows have been on my radar that I wanted to share. I don’t have enough time to keep up with the YouTube videos as much as I’d like to, but as I’ve oft said before, I love these live clips. The first one is Montreal indie folk rock band Half Moon Run performing a beautiful rendition of their excellent single Full Circle. I absolutely adore that song. The second? Franz Ferdinand rocking out one of their two new tunes, Love Illumination. Need I say more? I can’t believe it’s been almost a decade since I first caught Franz Ferdinand live. They’re still SO good.
