Achingly beautiful collaboration between Imad Royal and FRND on their song ‘Love is Dead’. I don’t even feel like I’m getting friendzoned, which is easy to accept, but the pain of this track comes from the fact that this person is so stuck in their rhythm of love not working out that they’ve decided it’s dead and not even worth a try. Ugh, I can feel this song from both perspectives.

An unexpected and epic alignment of talent brings us Faded, a dreamy effervescent amalgamation of Said The Sky’s melodic bass and FRND’s saccharine sparkling electro pop. The flawless juncture comes hot on the heels of Said The Sky’s All I Got. Atmospheric synths and summery, sun-kissed vocals weave into each other on the divinely glimmering and melodic burbling union. Faded is a contagious heart melter of a spry endearing gem from two names that will only become even more widely known in the coming year. Its energy is invigorating, yet there’s a soft underside to this sweetly affecting collaboration. Purchase/stream Faded, here.

When a movie ends, and the credits roll, do you wish for a different ending? Are you satisfied and content with how the plot unfurled? Do you regret the time you’ve put into the story? Los Angeles based, Koala loving musician FRND takes that precipitous, unpredictable situation and uses it as an analogy for love and romance on his latest single, Movies, and it couldn’t ring more true. Movies is the focus track and new single off of FRND’s long awaited In Your Dreams EP, a six track release burgeoning with stirring indie electronic gems we’ve already extolled and a couple of fine new treats we’re swiftly falling for. Movies encapsulates FRND’s ability to combine saccharine pop, dulcet harmonies, and iridescent electronica. It’s like a mix of Owl City and flor gone future pop, sparkly soothing yet vigorously affecting. You can stream FRND’s In Your Dreams EP in full on Soundcloud, here, or Spotify, here.

Some mighty fine remixes of FRND’s tender melting single Be Happy have been surfacing this past week, which comes as no surprise considering how mellifluously moving & melancholic stirring the Koala loving artist from Los Angeles proved himself to be on his fine electronic/pop piece. Chicago two piece The White Panda, whom we adore both for their remixing and mashup talent, has given Be Happy one of our favorite edits. They stay true to the original’s dewy eyed sentiment as they endow the track with an exhilarating dose of elastic purring, nimble springing energy. The White Panda’s regal thrumming, plump prancing remix is a free download, here.

There seems to be several artists in the scene who harbor a fondness for koalas, including the likes of Shura, and this enigmatic producer musician from Los Angeles, FRND. He releases his latest single via a Billboard premiered music video featuring his animated incarnation The Koala. Be Happy is a melancholia tinged indie electronica meets pop piece that some describe as “emo-electronic”. Even its indie electronica is genre defying, as it traverses between chill house and melodic bass. It’s infinitely hooking and deeply stirring. The video for Be Happy centers around an emotional journey after a relationship. The bittersweetly melting crossover gem is out now on iTunes, here.

Valentine’s Day is T minus four days away. Lest some of you are feeling downcast because you don’t have a boo to spoil on that day, FRND is here to save the day with an anti-Valentine’s Day treat. The enigmatic LA based artist gives us a creamy soothing, island breezy electronic pop emulsion on Substitute that feels like a blend of Owl City gone Cheat Codes and LANY gone Kygo. FRND explains: “Substitute is about realizing you’re someone’s option while they are your priority. You know what you feel is real but they refuse to leave their comfort zone and commit to you. In other words, just break up with your f already.” The scenario probably sounds very plenty familiar to most people, including myself. There there, it’s okay. We have FRND to fill that “hole in your heart”.

Now that 2016 is almost at an end, Los Angeles production prodigy Sweater Beats is about finished with his latest tour. Instead of putting on a sad face and surrendering yourself to the thought that we won’t get any new tunes till 2017, let’s celebrate the fact that a spectacular remix of satin swooning Did You Wrong, featuring MAX, has arrived. Fast rising SoCal producer FRND gives us his take on the jam, thrilling our senses with a buoyant and effervescent future bass treatment. You know how the saying goes: “sticks and stones can break my bones, but marvelous music is the most divine thing in the world”. Oh wait, did I get that age old adage wrong? It’s how I view the world anyhow, and Los Angeles’ FRND helps me make my case with a brilliant new electronic jam named, what else, but Sticks And Stones. It’s a fine follow up to the enigmatic producer’s ear turning debut Friend. Sticks and Stones’ electropop and trap hybridization brims with moody anguish but thrills with big infectious hooks and rabid energy.
