For the most part, we humans tend to prefer illusion and dreams over reality, particularly lately when the world seems to be in caught in throes of strife and discord. Except of course, when it comes to the sweet heavenly ambrosia that is FOURS’ music. We don’t want to let any dream take us away from the London quartet’s evocative pop, nor do we want to stray from lead singer Edith Violet’s exquisite voice, a raspy and breathy sonic perfume that always casts an intense spell on us. FOURS returns with their first single in many months, an aerial gusting alt pop ballad named Sweet Reality. Its crisp beats and luscious guitars join Edith’s voice in reminding us how much we’ve missed FOURS since their last single Tell Me In The Morning, and how truly sweeter than sweet their music can be, even when rooted in bittersweet emotions and intense remorse. You can also stream Sweet Reality via Spotify, here.

Overthinking is something I tend to do a lot, being someone who’s very much wrapped up in my own head space all the time. But one thing I don’t overthink is music, I just soak in how it makes me feel and enjoy the sense of rapport it ignites. FOURS’ Overthink certainly resonates with its crisp buoyant alt pop and Edith Violet’s ever alluring, raspy deep voice. They lift us up with their fresh springy, frisky light guitar pop on their irresistible single, a must for fans of MUNA, The Aces, and HAIM. For more of the London quartet’s endearing music, hit up their Soundcloud, here.

I can never resist a fine tune from FOURS, and said treats are certainly racking up in numbers as the Londoners bequeath us with new song Stella. Vocalist Edith Violet’s raspy alluring voice is full of spice and spirit. It dances and vaults over spry keys and frisky guitar on their uptempo jolt of fiery spirited pop. Stella is the catchiest serving of snappy, spunky pop we’ve encountered all week long. If the 80′s sounds of The 1975 and HAIM, or MUNA and Fickle Friends were infused with extra zest and speedy verve, they might match the bright vitality of Stella. Re-visit FOURS’ prior gems on Soundcloud, here.

Cozy inviting, whimsical alluring whistling sets the tone as we wade into Fade to Love, the latest from English quartet FOURS. The scratchy endearing, snappy zestful alt pop gem comes from FOURS’ forthcoming debut album, due out later this year. Fade to Love quickly reminds me why we’ve been fans of this blossoming British project for well over a year. It’s an effortlessly hooking, airy grooving delight that I can foresee myself obsessing over for a long time to come. I can’t wait to find out more about FOURS’ debut full length.

FOURS’ infectious new single may be named Sickly Sweet, but it’s not cloying to the ears at all. In fact, Sickly Sweet is euphonious to the utmost, a sleek strutting, light grooving pop confection reminiscent of Shura and MUNA with a touch of Florence Welch resilience. The song soars effortlessly and shimmers sharply, its endearing hooks digging in ever deeper with every new listen. Sickly Sweet is an instantaneous reminder as to why this female fronted, London based band is one to watch.
