They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Sara Diamond has more than befriended my ears and enraptured my heart with sultry smoldering Fool, produced by Brody Gillman. The Canadian starlet woos us with her husky soulful voice on the discontent heartbreak ballad, a potent and grandiose outpouring of plush R&B and opulent electro-pop. Jessie Reyez’ fiery embers, Léon’s smoky deep vocals, and BANKS’ dark seduction unite on the moody gripping single, available via iTunes, here

Ah, Zanski and that slinky burning drawl… It melts me to the core every time I listen to one of his tunes. I guess you could say I’m a “fool’ for Fool, but in a good way. The electro-soul and R&B funk swooner is the Canadian artist’s latest exhibition of fine musicality and expert delivery, a Jai Paul meets Opia and RKCB sort of gooey, moody sonic courter. It’s a new taste from Zanski’s forthcoming EP, Derivative Emotion, arriving next month. You can also jam out to Fool on Spotify, here.

“Fools” we’d be not to gleefully take in a new tune from REFS after the NYC project has prolifically blessed us with stellar music for the past couple of years. Following on the heels of his last dashing single Spotlight comes a sleek swooning, percussive ensnaring new single named Fool. REFS, otherwise known as Zachary Lipkins, flexes his production chops on the track, creating a beautiful composite of clarion entrancing drum beats to balance with his velveteen crooning and moody slinking melody. Fool is like Jaymes Young and Fyfe, all in one emotionally evocative, creamy rousing song. Zachary states:

“Fool” is the heir to “Pain Goes Away” – it’s that two way street of being in a relationship, both sides of the coin, the with and the without.” He’ll be releasing a trio of EPs this year, each one showcasing a different phase in dealing with the end of a relationship. Stream/purchase Fool, here.

As it turns out, much adored Los Angeles based indie pop and neo soul outfit Fitz and the Tantrums dropped a fine new single recently, and I finally happened upon the tune and its kooky video today. Whether it’s also your first day enjoying Fool, or whether this is a re-visit for you, there’s no denying the fact that Fool is an irresistible jam. It’s a perky booming, cheeky strutting new tune from FATT’s forthcoming deluxe edition of their 2016 self titled album. You can stream and download Fool, here. Catch Fitz and the Tantrums on tour this summer, details, here.

Naomi Scott is one of those all around talented artists who’s not only a musician but is also an actress. In fact, you might recognize this Londoner from her role alongside Matt Damon in acclaimed Hollywood film The Martian. Despite a blooming silver screen career, music has always been a driving passion of Naomi’s, and this clearly shows in her beautiful music. On Fool, Naomi Scott’s immaculate sensual voice evokes FKA Twigs, Jessie Ware, and Tei Shi. Fool is a silken plush electropop song with satin R&B that sets my heart aflutter. Fool is taken from Naomi Scott’s forthcoming EP Promises.

OFFICIAL VID: Perfume Genius – Fool

December 9, 2014

It would seem that there are many out there, critics and fans alike, who consider Too Bright, Perfume Genius’ recent album, one of the best of releases this year. Having been a big fan of him since his last album a few years ago, I’m more than happy that he’s received such praise for his latest excellent release. Mike Hadreas has an ability to express such honest intimacy and haunting vulnerability on his chamber pop imbued avant-garde songs. Off the new album comes Fool, for which Perfume Genius has revealed an official video.

New to me is a producer from Philadelphia named Moon Bounce, with some very warpy, wonky electronic pop music sure to bring your ears some euphoric bliss. Fool is his latest single, shimmering intensely and bouncing frenetically, like a funkier, futuristic, and more spacey Robert DeLong meets Dan Croll. The thrilling song will release, with double A side Echo, September 30 on Grind Select, both digitally and via limited edition scratch-off lottery tickets. I’m not sure how that works, but color me intrigued. Another worthy Moon Bounce tune to check out is Shake, below, with its more Nicolas Jaar and Baths like atmosphere.

For more intoxicating alt hip hop goodness, I’ll introduce you to Australian artist MEALS, a brand new one on my radar. His new single Fool, which features fellow artist Clyve, is a pensive, entrancing mix of smooth rap vocals and electrifying, glisteningly haunting production. It flows with overwhelming, dark synths.

TOKiMONSTA

TOKiMONSTA

I had absolutely no idea TOKiMONSTA had gained such ground in popularity since I first checked out her material some time back. Just recently I noticed her on the lineup for various events, including the Electric Zoo in NY. Her music is super chill, jazzy, soulful, ambient stuff. Her artist name was what caught my attention first awhile back… it’s very Japanese art/toy related (she isn’t Japanese though.. she’s either Korean or Chinese, classically trained). I wonder if the name has anything to do with Tokidoki and other things (and yes, I’m quite the fan of such things, have my own little shelf/shrine devoted to the expensive little blind boxes, plastic collectibles, etc). Here’s a few TOKiMONSTA samples, some of them off a pretty recent EP. Get ready to chill out!

This first track is a newer one and reminds me of Little Dragon/Yukimi Nagano with its tinge of R&B soulfulness, particularly in the vocals…

This next one off the same EP has the same flavor of jazzy R&B too, but more uptempo, a little less chill.

Next are a few smooooth older tracks, yep, her vocals def remind me of Yukimi.

This was one of my faves when I first looked her up back awhile ago… it’s one of the jazzier ones

And lastly, here’s a rap/hiphop mix
