We’ve been caught in the tide of Fly By Midnight’s retro hued synthpop and alt pop many times these past two years, and we gladly ride that current once again as the NYC duo explores the darker side of love on their new break up anthem, Just Say It. The duo explores the complexities that come with falling in and out of love on the synth florid, beat whirring heart melter. Fly By Midnight, known for their infectious energy and unique harmonies, continues to pick up momentum this year with their music, which has generated strong independent buzz as well as charted as high as #6 on Spotify’s Viral 50. They’ll be playing Delaware Music Festival this June.

When I think of Malibu, I think of long stretches of pristine shoreline, sun kissed beaches, and wind in my hair as I coast palm tree lined roadways. It seems rather fitting that NYC based retro-pop duo Fly By Midnight would offer up an exhilarating song named after the Southern California town, considering their nostalgia laden synthpop, permeated with windswept synths, dewy vocals, and bright summery beats. For a moment, I’m transported from the frigid weather we’re having here in Northern California to Malibu by the band’s sentimentally catching anthem. We’re caught in a storybook romance with the sweeping, heartfelt ballad, a fine return by the rising pop duo. Get Malibu from iTunes or Spotify, here.

I rarely spend my time at a karaoke bar, but the last time I hit up one of those joints with some of my closest friends, it was a whirlwind of unforgettably goofy and exhilarating fun. Brooklyn synthpoppers Fly By Midnight evokes the rush of that night on their song, Karaoke, the catchiest tune to surface in the indie scene in a very long while. Karaoke’s slick dance pop lifts me sky high, a must listen for fans of bands like Great Good Fine OK, The Wombats, Panama Wedding, and so many other projects many of us love. Karaoke comes complete with epic sweeping 80′s guitar, lively clattering percussion, and the most radiant sing along ready chorus ever. This retro pop duo are poised to take over the world with their punchy sleek music. An official music for Karaoke is sure to take the internet by storm soon. You can download the single from Soundcloud now.

Without a doubt one of the most catchy debuts of the day is this song, Brooklyn, from a synthpop band named Fly By Midnight from, where else but NYC! The duo bring plenty of radiant sunshine on the punchy indie dance pop song. It brings some of the same uptempo hooks and retro pop feels of Capital Cities, with some of the oh oh oh vocals that we love about Bastille. Throw in some bubbly synths, Grouplove like hey hos, plenty of spunk, and we have a bonafide summer hit. Fly By Midnight hit the jackpot on their first track.
