I love Fleetwood Mac, as do many other music heads I know. They’re huge influences on so many of our favorite bands and artists, and many have covered them over the years, particularly when it comes to

quintessential Fleetwood classic, Dreams. We couldn’t help but gasp when a cover of Dreams surfaced courtesy of Young & Sick, the absolutely brilliant Dutch born, Los Angeles raised musician and visual artist whose been dropping our jaws with his creativity for the past few years. Right away, we knew that Nick van Hofwegen’s cover of Dreams would be a brilliant rendering, an imaginative and fresh ode to the original. With his waxy, glassy voice, reminiscent of Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor or Son Lux’s Ryan Lott, Young & Sick coos over a lavish soundscape that stays true to the original’s twanginess. But he instills in the song plenty of psychedelic intricacy and a whole lot of disco glam resplendence. The cover follows Young & Sick’s excellent new original Ojai, which you can re-visit, here. Watch a visual accompaniment for Young & Sick’s Dreams below, replete with a series of Nick’s personal interpretations of the original Dreams cover artwork.

Sunday, that solo project created by Miami Horror’s Aaron Shanahan, crafts dreamy meditative chillwave and deeply intoxicating electronica. The producer has already sent us to cloud nine many times before with songs like Only and Waiting For You. Today, he’s back with a heady re-production of one of my all time favorite oldies. He’s taken Fleetwood Mac classic Dreams and morphed it into a pastel drifting, diaphanous oozing work of splendor. Sunday’s cover of Dreams lingers long in the air, like the taste of a gentle rain on this wet spring day. You can revisit Shanahan’s other releases as Sunday on Soundcloud.

Empire Of The Sun has revealed yet another treat from their forthcoming new full length, Two Vines, and it’s a surprisingly halcyon and serene beauty. To Her Door also features Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. They make quite the combo on this far more shimmery tune, a sound we don’t hear all that often from the Australian electronic duo. With Lindsey’s warm guitars, this Empire Of The Sun feels very dream pop meets dream folk, even remindingme of M83 at certain moments, particular near the end of the song. I find myself very content with this misty ethereal version of Empire Of The Sun. Pre-order Two Vines, here, ahead of its October 28th release date.

Marcus Alan Ward makes Santana (or Fleetwood Mac) classic hit Black Magic Woman all his own on a striking cover. The Cleveland based musician takes the bewitching original and transforms it into a experimental slinker that retains much of the original’s jazzy psychedelia, but brings in that funky electro R&B sound that seems to be the flavor of the month these days. Imagine Santana combined with the vocals and wooing seductiveness of Gallant and The Weeknd, but also permeated with Glass Animals’ jungle prowl. Black Magic Woman is the first of three covers that will make up the talented musician’s Marcus In Wonderland EP. Marcus Aland Ward will take on Sade and Jefferson Airplane next, and I can’t wait to plunge into his renditions of their music. Marcus In Wonderland will be out October 5th on Long Division Records, both digitally and on cassette tape.

Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide is a beloved, timeless tune, one that has been covered plentiful times, over and over again, over the years. From gritty rock covers, to folk flavored, stripped down renditions, we’ve heard some fabulous versions of the song. British singer songwriter Robyn Sherwell is the latest artist to offer up an interpretation of the song, and the quieting, stark cover is a breathtaking beauty. Get ready for some goosebumps, because Robyn’s voice is exquisite on the song. Her serene, nearly a cappella Landslide is poignant and exquisitely entrancing, in an Imogen Heap sort of way. The track is the last song on Robyn Sherwell’s Islander EP, out this week.

Lüthian is a Vancouver based artist whose latest song, Sara, is a jaw dropping, fresh cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Sara. The thickly atmospheric electronic pop rendition of the song takes it into haunting, dreamy, and hazy territory, as if throwing Tove Lo and Lana Del Rey pop into the syrupy, dark world that Shlohmo so often paints with his music. The thoroughly bewitching and spellbinding song is creepy, yet beautiful. It’s an eye opening new approach on Fleetwood Mac.

I sort of grew up hearing Fleetwood Mac on the radio, thanks to the ‘rents, so I have a special spot in my heart for their classics, which are still so good to re-visit so many years later. Dreams, of course, is one of their most beloved classics. For a smooth, sexy rendition of the endearing song, check out this ace cover by Florida producers JMR and Jon Santana. Together, they’ve created a brilliant modern version of the song, complete with pristine, swooning falsettos and glistening, seductive production. Dreams has never been more luscious and ambrosial.

Aussie duo Flight Facilities remixed Fleetwood Mac’s Family Man and made it all nu-disco, synthy, shiny good. They originally created the edit for use on their Triple J Decade Mixes but ended up not inserting it in. To mark the milestone of 100K followers on Facebook, they’ve released the edit to us loyal fans to enjoy. If you forgot what the original Fleetwood tune sounds like, I have it for you below. This makes me want to have a summer dance party!
