You know it’s going to be a marvelous day when StéLouse whisks us away with a fresh remix of a Said The Sky rework, especially when it happens to be the Denver producer’s beautiful re-imagination of Owl City classic Fireflies. StéLouse’s future bass Fireflies is wide eyed effervescent and glittering bright. These beautiful winged fireflies flutter and float, adding sparkle to the very world around us with their glow. Download the track for free from Toneden.

Everyone’s knows T-Pain’s Buy U A Drink, and likely became tired of it after it was played endlessly everywhere for a long period of time, but I bet you’ve never heard it this way. Enigmatic new producer SMLE sheds new light on the huge hit, creating a very resplendent and chilled out future bass edit. Trilling, shimmering texture and spacious synths fluidly flow through the intoxicating remix. For another ace remix from SMLE, you must listen to his amazing remix of Owl City’s Fireflies from last year.

OFFICIAL VID: Still Corners – Fireflies

August 28, 2013

UK indie pop duo Still Corners’ Fireflies is an absolutely intoxicating, dreamy track off their excellent sophomore album Strange Pleasures from earlier this year. If you still haven’t checked them out despite my ravings in the past and you’re a Phantogram fan, it’s time you tune in. They have a brighter, warmer sound than most of Phantogram’s darker work, but there’s a sure similarity in some of their songs. Fireflies is a gorgeous track, and I’m glad the new video allowed me to revisit it.

New Still Corners!

February 26, 2013

Yay! London indie pop act Still Corners have returned with a new track, and it’s free for all to download! Berlin Lovers will be on their coming sophomore album Strange Pleasures, out May 7 off Sub Pop. I was pretty fond of their debut album Creatures Of An Hour back in 2011. With how nommy Berlin Lovers sounds, I can’t wait to hear the rest of the new songs. The gorgeous synthy track is filled with a dreamy quality and enchanting vocals that again draw comparisons in my mind to Phantogram/Sarah Barthel. In this track and perhaps on the forthcoming album, they seem to be going for a more crisp, less foggier sound. This also seemed true of single Fireflies, which they released back in fall last year. I’ll tack that on below. We’ll have to see how the rest of it pans out!

Fireflies:

While we’re at it, let’s visit a few tracks from 2011! You’ll definitely hear what I mean comparing the above to the below.

UK dream pop act Still Corners has been relatively quiet this past while, but today, they released a beautiful, hazy new track titled Fireflies. The track will be available in limited 7" release and only on their European tour at their shows. Tough luck for us over here, but hey, as long as we get to hear it one way or another! Below, find a couple other tracks from their 2011 album Creatures of an Hour, which was very enjoyable. I haven’t listened to them in awhile, this is a good time to revisit!
