The moment we laid eyes on this track, we knew it would be a winner. Bodies is one of several of our favorites from Australia based Dutch artist Wafia. The sweeping electro-pop track even takes profound inspiration from real refugee experiences. And Vancouver based production whiz Felix Cartal has always exceeded our high expectations with his refined remixes and dance originals. Who else but this electronic maestro could give Bodies a beautiful dance remix that doesn’t take away from the original’s crystalline beauty and deep meaning, yet gives the track a whole lot of house vigor and melodic pumping energy? Bodies is the second Wafia track Felix Cartal has remixed. Lest you forgot how good his edit of Heartburn was last year, let’s turn back time and re-visit our feature, here.

I don’t think it’s necessary relay how great a song might be if it involved both distinguished Dutch producer R3HAB and illustrious Vancouver producer Felix Cartal, do I? You know to expect something extra magnificent when you see both those names on a track. Earlier tonight, we shared a song named Borrowed Time. Now, we launch into Killing Time, a larger than large, bigger than life kind of tropical house meets future beats behemoth. Killing Time is a misty mellifluous, panoramic sprawling spectacular, and contrary to its name, sinking into its glowing grasp and sprightly beats is well worth your time. Killing time, we’re not. Making the best use of our time, we are.

New Radicals’ 1998 hit You Get What You Give is a timeless piece of my past an oldie I hold near and dear to me whenever a chance encounter brings on a new wave of nostalgia. The song’s lyrics hit far too close to home not to hold for me some sense of importance, even though it first came out long before I realized my obsession with music. Some of you young ones may not have been alive when the single first surfaced. For you, this may be your first formative experience with the tune, and it’s a fine introduction, too. Felix Cartal’s Get What You Give is a modern update and a visionary re-imagination. Its slick house is smooth and breezy, serene and euphoric, and it lifts us up with the original’s tenet… “don’t let go, you’ve got music in you…. don’t give up, you’ve got a reason to live.” Snag Get What You Give or stream from various other services, here. Though The xx’s debut album from 2009 will forever be an all time favorite for me, I’ve also found it impossible to retire their excellent album I See You, released earlier this year, from my album rotation. Aside for my love affairs with songs like On Hold and Say Something Loving, I have to profess my love for regal building Violent Noise, too. It’s that song that ever brilliant Vancouver producer Felix Cartal has offered up as his latest remix. He explains: “The new xx album is beautiful so I wanted to put my own spin on one of the tracks from it.” Felix Cartal injects Violent Noise with a triumphant and exultant dose of dance energy, turning it into a club ready, balmy springing house jam overflowing with euphoric warmth. Vancouver production whiz Felix Cartal recently teamed back up with prior collaborator and oft IHM favorite Ofelia K on a new original named Drifting Away, and if you’ve yet to encounter this electronic jewel, prepare to be whisked away on an enchanting carousel ride. Ofelia K brings her breathy bewitching vocals and fascinating smoky allure to Felix Cartal’s frisky bouncing dance meets blusterous folk pop concoction. Felix Cartal created Drifting Away as an ode to youth and nostalgia. He says:

“Drifting Away plays on that idea of getting lost in your own world and doing your own thing. The mindset when we’re young is that we can take chances all the time, and as we get older sometimes this idea fades. I hate that feeling, but I think we’re all guilty of it. After doing something for awhile, sometimes we need to stop for a moment and think about why we started doing it in the first place. This song is about wanting to get back to that mindset, to push outside your comfort zone, surrender yourself to the unknown. Embrace what makes you original and challenge yourself, it’s the only way to get better. Drift into your own world and embrace it.”

Thanks for the reminder, Felix Cartal. Words can’t ring truer, and a song can’t deliver more essential advice than this. Stream and download Drifting Away from various services, here.

Vancouver based producer Felix Cartal submerges us in a sparkling ethereal ocean of bliss with his new single, Keep Up, which features sweet enchanting vocals by Los Angeles songbird Steph Jones. Keep Up is more chill effervescent than anything we’ve heard from the producer previously, and it marks the beginning of a new stage of his illustrious career on label Physical Presents. Spindly indie dance, crisp electro, and bouncy deep house combine seamlessly into a mellifluous eruption of celestial electronica. Download Keep Up from various outlets, here.

It’s been a few weeks now since mega producers Kaskade and Felix Cartal joined forces to give us a their melodically enrapturing, summery enticing smash single Fakin It, featuring ever enchanting vocals by Ofelia K. My love for the track grows ten fold, or even a hundred fold, now that I’ve been enraptured by an official remix of the tune by Hotel Garuda. The illustrious duo, formed by producers Manila Killa and Candle Weather, gives us one of the most stirring remixes of the moment with their transcendental transformation of Fakin It. An immense tide of rosy warmth engulfs me as Hotel Garuda’s crisp bouncing, sweet sparkling deep dance emulsion takes me to great heights of flushed sonic pleasure. This summer may never be as beautiful again as it is right now, while lost in the folds of this lavish and impassioned gem. Hotel remix will be part of an official package alongside edits by Hook N Sling and Galactic Marvl, to be released on July 24th.

Vancouver producer Felix Cartal is up to his brilliant tricks again, transforming pop songs I adore into soaring, uplifting dance anthems. He loves Anna And The North’s Baby so much that he just had to put his own spin on it. Well, I’m very much a helpless victim to the Norwegian songbird’s glacial shimmering, swirly intoxicating Baby, too. And now I’m head over heels for this glowing remix that takes me to new heights of skin tingling, shiver inducing euphoria. Though the deep pumping indie dance approach Felix Cartal gives us on the song is infinitely exhilarating, it’s also fleecy plush and saccharine enchanting.

I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong with a song that sees mega producers Kaskade and Felix Cartal collaborating together and also features the sultry enchanting vocals of Ofelia K. I mean, the laws of the universe just don’t allow it, right? It’s no wonder Fakin It has been blowing up since its big reveal a few days ago. There’s no faking how melodically enrapturing and summery enticing this breezy chill delight really is. Make sure you add this to your summer playlist.
