I’m still blown away by how different Daniel Johns’ solo music sounds compared to his music with Silverchair, but I’m much grateful for his foray into electronic R&B, because everything we’ve heard from him has been amazing. For his latest single, Daniel Johns dips his music paintbrush into the glitchy, bass wobbly, dark electro side of things on We Are Golden, a blend of both tumultuously heavy and enchantingly sparkling pop.  We Are Golden is from Daniel Golds’ highly lauded debut album TALK, out now. A fashion shoot music video was created for the single in conjunction with David Jones. It’s the world’s first fashion shoot powered by music.

OFFICIAL VID: Haerts – All The Days

Haerts released a music video for their great single All The Days today. The song is an immensely catchy indie pop tune from the rising Brooklyn based trio. The track was produced by St Lucia’s Jean-Philip Grobler, and it’s apparent in the sound. The video also serves as a fashion ad for designer brand Aritzia. It’s a soaring, moody track. Along with debut song Wings, Haerts has come at us with a one two punch that leaves me yearning for more.

OFFICIAL VID: CLAIRE – PIONEERS

This was an ear perker! Pioneers is the debut single by indie electropop act Claire. The video is a “fashion film” done in collaboration with production group WILDEYES, which likely means it was a showcase for some designers? Claire was recently on tour supporting Scottish buzz band CHVRCHES. From what I can gather, Claire is from Munich, Germany, and they certainly have a bright, polished, appealing future pop sound. They must have fit in great as the opening act for CHVRCHES! I’m sure if you like CHVRCHES, you’ll gravitate towards their dramatic single Pioneers, at least production wise.

Claire released a video earlier this month for another great synthy pop song named Games. These are the only two songs they have posted so far. Hooray for great late day discoveries! I’m throwing Claire on my bands to watch list, straightaway!

OFFICIAL VID: Chromatics – Looking For Love

October 22, 2012

There’s brand new unreleased Chromatics today, and it’s a dreamy, hypnotic italo disco piece. Looking For Love is actually a 17 minute long song that will be on the compilation album After Dark II, but today, we get a cool, sleek, satin smooth five minute edit of the track and a video with footage shot at the Chanel runway show in Paris recently. Johnny Jewel did a freaking sweet job on the production, as always.

New Charli XCX

February 21, 2012

Charli XCX recorded a new song for a Red Bull Catwalk Studio fashion show. Here’s I’ll Never Know, which is pretty different from our past exposure to the talented songstress so far. It’s a breezy, islandy track. Charli XCX is continuing her strong rise to the top buzzing talents this year.

OFFICIAL VID: Duran Duran – Girl Panic!

They’re back again with a new video, and the video has a bunch of ye ol’ supermodels of the past couple decades spoofing the members. This is a 9 and a half minute film with the likes of Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon, and Naomi Campbell in a washed up glam statement about the band and their history. Duran Duran is still sounding good after three or so decades. And the supermodels still look good despite the time that has passed for some of ‘em. Glam is still glam.
