Funny how I inadvertently line up my posts for the day. Here’s another one somewhat related to Jay-Z. British producer Evian Christ recently signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation, but he’ll still be dropping his debut EP on Tri Angle on March 17, which is great news, since I’m quite fond of Tri Angle Records. Waterfalls is the killer title track off the EP, a mesmerizing, bombastic, futuristic explosion of hip hop and electronic sound.

British producer Evian Christ creates trippy, dubby, amazing soundscapes in his electronic pieces. He does no less on his latest, Salt Carousel. A slow, wonky beat is paired with hyper speed vocals, and the end result is mind twisting sick. It’s sinister. It’s bizarre. It’s off kilter, skittery, and mind boggling delicious. Pure evil. Salt Carousel will be on Evian Christ’s Waterfall EP which will be out early next year on the always edgy and futuristic Tri Angle.

F*ck It None Of Y’all Don’t Rap

January 13, 2012

Evian Christ has been quietly creating a growing following lately. Here’s the trippy, clangy, minimalist, dubby track F*ck It None Of Y’all Don’t Rap. The mysterious artist slowly emerged via a youtube channel and not much is known about him (or her). Yet, Evian Christ is obviously brilliant, as can be heard in the below skittish, skippy track. I don’t know about you, but I’m very, very intrigued.

Here’s another tune from Evian Christ titled MYD. Times sure are ripe these days for bedroom producers and artsy textured music that blur the lines between electronic, r&b, rap, hip hop, dance, club, post-dubstep, minimalism and house. Did I miss anything there? Oh let’s not forget darkwave witch house or drag. Come on, you know the sound I’m talking about that has now emerged into a growing monster. Music composition has most certainly grown to a whole other level these days.
