Asheville by way of New York City DJ and music producer Equal teams up with singer Sam Island on Postcards, a rousing blend of folk and chill indie house. Equal truly presents us with a heart rending postcard, painted in vibrant colors with sonic brushstrokes that are richly eloquent. Postcards feels like a Jose Gonzalez or Alexi Murdoch song gone gently meditative dance. Sam Island and Equal are childhood friends from the mountains of North Carolina, and their chemistry is much apparent on this emotive stirring, world-weary traveler’s song. As Equal states, Postcards is’ “rife with tangible nostalgia for summers past, present and future.” Postcards is out now on iTunes via The Knocks’ HeavyRoc Records.

Time to get your boogie on with this funky disco jam named Shakedown from Equal, featuring piquantly sassy vocals by Australia’s Seja (of synthpunk trio Seikden). Roller disco vibes intermixes with a Jungle like opulence on the flushed and feverish treat. The New York City based DJ and music producer, originally from Asheville, NC, brings some swanky vibes on this one, the perfect track to get loose to. Shakedown is out now on HeavyRoc.
