With a stringy plucking charm and low-key magnetism comes new Elijah. Wilson State Park is mellow and intimate, yet it captures us whole with its lyrically poetic and thoroughly romantic indie guitar pop. The Brooklyn artist reels us in with a lo-fi mistiness that evokes a cross between early Youth Lagoon and Dan Croll. Wherever this Wilson State Park is, I’m more than ready to visit its foggy peaks and drafty trails. Though I’ve never been, it seems like it will be a place of solace and comfort. Wilson State Park can also be streamed from Soundcloud below.

Wild Child is the second single revealed from Brooklyn based artist Elijah’s debut EP How’s Annie, due out August 5th on Old Flame Records. It’s also a breathtaking beauty, its sweet tender acoustics working in concerted harmony with atmospheric electronics to take us to heart melting dream folk and indie rock cloud nine. Elijah’s soft, gentle vocals add to the stirring force of the song. Wild Child and the rest of Elijah’s How’s Annie EP were inspired by cult television classic Twin Peaks. Like the series, Elijah’s music is built upon traditional folklore, brought to life by modern experimentation. Elijah explores the depths of love, surrender, and darkness. How’s Annie can be pre-ordered now from iTunes.

Here’s one that I’ve been excited to share with you since I first heard it last week. New Chicago singer-songwriter and producer ELIJAH bursts on to the scene with Poison, a magnificent, gripping electropop debut single full of dark, sultry electronic texture and passionate vocals. The melodramatic, infectious song calls to mind many other acts I love, including The Neighbourhood, Sir Sly, and SOHN, while ELIJAH’s moving vocals are reminiscent of Mikky Ekko, particularly when Mikky collaborated with producers like Clams Casino. Poison is a stunning debut, and I can’t wait to hear more.
