I was fortunate enough to finally meet Sidizen King briefly when I was in Austin for SXSW last month, but it was certainly a lot of misfortune that resulted in my having to miss him perform at the fest. We’ve long been enamored with the Los Angeles based artist’s dexterous ability to meld cutting edge electronic and dance sounds with forward thinking hip hop. Plenty of Sidizen King’s previous tracks have gone viral upon release, and now he’s back with another scintillating gem named Roll The Dice. It’s a flawless melting pot in which electro, hip hop, and funk become one. In other words, its another ace jam from this gifted artist. We know we’re never “rolling the dice” when we dive into a new Sidizen King track. They’re sure to be well woven, classy captivating feats. Roll The Dice is a free download, here.

Keeping those wicked hip hop beats flowing with the latest from Florida’s Broderick Batts. Batts goes mega soulful on a song named, um, ¯_(ツ)_/¯, arguably one of the most popular emoticons of the internet for a good while. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ features the sweet honeyed vocals of Sweden’s Erik Hassle, whose polished crooning add an extra dimension of emotion to Broderick Batts’ sexy, synth heavy track. Broderick Batts will be releasing his E11EVEN EP soon.

Today, Kid Cudi reminded us why he’s still held in such high esteem by so many. Today, Kid Cudi dropped new song LOVE, likely a track off his coming Man On The Moon 3 project. Cudi announced that the track was created during some recording sessions in San Francisco, and here I am, in San Francisco, with no idea that Cudi was even here. LOVE is self produced, with its keys crafted by Dot Da Genius. The song also samples one of his favorite Ratatat jams, Sunblocks. What is it about Kid Cudi that tends to grip me and never let go?

SLDGHMR is a production duo based in Miami and Los Angeles, both such sunny locales. However, their new single How It Works is unabashedly dark and raw. The techno and electro meets hip hop styled jam is a wicked thriller featuring Chuck Inglish and SF Bay’s very own K.Flay. An entrancing glitchiness and heated grittiness make for a fitting environment for K.Flay’s signature rough hip hop delivery. How It Works is a new track off SLDGHMR’s upcoming album Grid Living, out March 10th.

I’m listening and sharing a lot more indie hip hop these days than I have in a long time, which really says something about the scene. It also says a lot about how much I dig it when electronic and hip hop meet at the middle. New Birmingham based talent Thai Mason teams up with French producer FKJ on new track Drunk. The resplendent, snazzy atmosphere and Thai Mason’s soulful, earnest delivery are a fine pairing. Drunk is part of a collection of songs that Thai Mason has been writing and recording between Birmingham, Nottingham, and London, while working with some incredible producers.

Akouo has dropped his new single All They Do, after previewing its B-side, Pieces, last week. I’ve been waiting to hear this one, and the hip hop heavy track, which features indie artist Monsoonsiren & Chicago rapper Mayo, is no disappointment. Akouo’s production is on point as always, and the banging beats and entrancing rhythm come together flawlessly on the triple collaboration.

Oakland rapper G-Eazy is quickly rising to the top, as we’ve expected for some time now. His talent was far too obvious, and more and more people are picking up on that since this past summer’s release of full length These Things Happen and G-Eazy’s tour with Drake and Lil Wayne. Today, Young Gerald surprise dropped three new tracks for his fans. The one that stood out most for me is Show You The World, which features the Bay’s Too $hort. The electronic heavy production was crafted by Christoph Andersson. I’ve come to realize I gravitate toward that guy’s production work. Devon Baldwin’s tunes have been produced by Christoph, and I’m certainly in love with those tracks. Show You The World is dark and seductive, buoyant and grooving. Plus, G-Eazy throws out some great local shouts, always a bonus. Head over to his Soundcloud to check out the rest of the new tracks and visit some oldies.

Rapper Eboi has been prevalent in the Swedish scene for some now, with fellow Swedish rapper Adam Tensta considering him the country’s best rapper. Eboi unveiled an unreleased track this week named As I’m Falling, which features Swedish artist Little Jinder. The song, produced by Tinitus, was recorded back in 2012. It’s an enchanting blend of electronic pop and hip hop. Little Jinder’s vocals are exquisite and unique, raspy and bewitching like Kate Bush.

Rising Australia based Zimbabwe native hip hop artist Tkay Maidza is a name you’ll likely be hearing a lot more in the near future. Some consider her Down Under’s answer to our Azealia Banks. She first caught my attention with Brontosaurus, featuring Badcop, a year ago, which certainly makes the Azealia comparison logical (stream below). However, she demonstrates some major versatility guesting on a new track named Wishes, a collaboration with producers Swick and Lewis Cancut, both Australian themselves. The glistening electronic song fizzes with bubbly, fun effervescence. It’s the first track unveiled from a “Secret Songs compilation” series featuring original, new music from producers all over. Tkay Maidza also dropped a new tune a week ago that goes back to a more frenetic, playful rap style. Finish Them is produced by Bok Bok. Find it below Brontosaurus.
