Two of our faves from the budding new music scene in 2017 (who are poised to rule the music world this year) come together on this next official remix. SOFI TUKKER, the Grammy nominated alt dance/house pop duo who’s topping charts these days with their latest single Best Friend, has remixed pop wunderkind Billie Eilish’s COPYCAT, and the resulting edit is wicked good. Billie Eilish’s voice has never sounded more bewitching and teasing than on this snazzy simmering, deep pumping house remix, which pairs SOFI TUKKER’s usual deep dance flair with a sexy pulsing retro house vibe reminiscent of Grum. Grab this dark foxy remix from iTunes, here.

I was much surprised to find out last month that Chandler Riggs, the actor who plays Carl on The Walking Dead, had launched a production career as ‘eclipse’. In fact, he’d linked up with our friend Lolaby for his first release, ‘hold on’, a celestial future bass aria that took us on a spiritually enriching journey. eclipse is back with his second track lunar to further prove his production prowess. eclipse partners up with mysterious producer jaron on this stunning new opus, a future bass and electro trap sprawler with a grandeur that evokes k?d, Porter’s recent project Virtual Self, and Flume. The astonishing space odyssey is a free download, here. Revisit ‘hold on’, featuring Lolaby, below.

While most of you were cozying up to holiday tunes and waiting for jolly ol’ Santa to visit you with presents, I was strutting my stuff to some brand new argonaut&wasp. Okay, maybe I was doing all the holiday stuff too, but I certainly enjoyed my fair share of the Brooklyn band’s electro-funky indie rock. I am, after all, quite the freak for psychedelia, and argonaut&wasp’s Psychedelic Freak is just the sort of dance-ready rock to get this fan super freaking out. It’s part of an excellent new 2 track EP, which also features a rollicking heater as its title track, Radio Sound. Stream the perky and vivacious tune below. The two song release is some of argonaut&wasp’s most vibrantly popping material to date, and each one is as irresistible as the other, bursting with swagger and aplomb.

Lying is usually detrimental to love, but the two come hand in hand on a stately new piece from Alaskan production star Electric Mantis. Brooklyn’s Mothica turns in bewitching vocals on the synth swiveling, vibrant blazing trap and melodic bass ballad. Lying & Loving is dark and splendorous, an ornately textured yet visceral gutting opus. “

If lying is loving than I guess you love me,” Mothica sings on the song. Yet, I find it impossible to lie about my affection for Electric Mantis’ new masterpiece. You can download/stream Lying & Loving via major outlets, here.

I can never resist a good PC Music track, much less a twelve minute bubbly aerated, glassy enchanting mix from PC Music’s magnetic artist Hannah Diamond. The futuristic pop artist brings us back into her fantastic world of jagged shimmering synths and vigorously carbonated beats on ‘Soon I won’t see you at all’, a three track oeuvre that includes Never Again and The Ending, which she co-wrote with HD and A.G. Cook, as well as a cover of Gareth Emery’s Concrete Angel. You can also download this three track mix, here.

I just spent part of this prior weekend taking in the view and watching surfers at the Hook in Santa Cruz, so it seems appropriate to dive into a new track from Santa Cruz’s very own Bassnectar tonight. He recently partnered up with Brooklyn’s Dorfex Bos on a jaw dropping, expansive blooming anthem named Other Worlds, one of six releases from the next chapter of his Reflective series. It feels like I’ll end up in a world far, far away after the high flying, panoramic soaring journey I take alongside the producers. Their wondrously dazzling ambient bass certainly doesn’t seem of this mundane world. Bassnectar explains: ‘“Other Worlds” was inspired by a new collage from Sebastian Wahl, which we brought to life with the help of Black Lake Media. The collage shows portals emerge and unfold and evolve within and around a picture frame… a magical gateway, like the wardrobe in The Chronicles of Narnia. On a sunny day in Brooklyn I sat down with @DorfexBosMusic to write a piece of music to go along with the visuals, and the ideas just came pouring out. We finished the song in 24 hours flat, with various instruments and sounds mapped to various details and dimensions of the various worlds within the collage.’ You can pre-order Reflective Part 2, here.

New Party Nails single So Broke arrives two months after the Los Angeles based pop chanteuse toured nationwide with the likes of PVRIS and Lights, and one month after she worked with GETTER on his single Solo. She’s even linked up with LA electronic duo Battle Tapes on her new offering, a dance-ready explosion of peppy beats, sassy cooing, and gritty synths. So Broke is like HOLYCHILD and Fickle Friends gone super dance pop and electro; it’s vivacious and vibrant, irresistible and contagious. Party Nails is currently working on a debut full length album and planning a spring tour. Stream more of this rising starlet’s music on Soundcloud, here.

We’ve been touting Portugal. the Man’s Feel It Still as one of the best tracks of the year, so it’s been very vindicating to watch my favorite American psych rock band get nominated for a Grammy for the funky swaggering jam, which has now become the most ubiquitous and omnipresent hit of 2017. Over the course of the past several months, an insane amount of ridiculously good remixes of Feel It Still have surfaced in the music scene. But there’s always room for one more brilliant rendition, particularly when its this edit by NYC’s Jenaux. Feel It Still gets some chill dreamy feels on the languorous future funk re-work. It’s a brassy playful, jazzy chic romp with smooth glossy corners and luscious synths. Grab it for free, here.
