We’re incredibly glad that Echosmith returned with a fine new EP recently, and we’re even more grateful that they’ve unleashed some holiday music to keep us more than content over the holidays, too. The California three piece, who broke out a few years ago with their ever infectious hit single Cool Kids, brings us much Christmas cheer and nostalgia with their bittersweet and windswept alt pop on Baby Don’t Leave Me (All Alone On Christmas). The twangy, homey gem can be found on An Echosmith Christmas, a three track collection of holiday music you can stream via Soundcloud, here

California three piece Echosmith really made an imprint on the indie pop scene with their highly addictive, ever infectious hit single Cool Kids a few years ago, and all the buzz culminated in a terrific debut album named Talking Dreams. That was 2013. Come 2018, after a long five year wait, Echosmith returns with their sophomore album. In the meantime, they’ve tided us over with a seven track EP named Inside A Dream, which you can stream in full on Soundcloud, here. EP single Get Into My Car has received a superb remix treatment by East Coast production virtuoso Prince Fox, too. The future pop architect gives Get Into My Car an effervescent and celestial electronic re-work painted in dreamy pastels and ethereal synths. You can stream the melodious sweeping pop original below. Purchase Prince Fox’s remix from iTunes, here.

Echosmith was a band we championed most ardently in 2013, just as the Southern Californian indie pop crew was releasing their debut full length Talking Dreams. We were so enamored with their bright infectious pop that we were stunned when the world took their time to catch up to us on this quartet of siblings. But sure as sure can be, with a little bit more time, Echosmith’s Cool Kids started blowing up charts and became one of the most ubiquitous tunes of late 2013 and early 2014. Echosmith made us all feel like Cool Kids, and years later, it’s a song we still adore to no end. Despite the staying power of their prior music, we’ve been missing Echosmith, and we’re overjoyed that the band, now a trio, have returned to our outstretched arms. They do so in charming style with Goodbye, an ode to that now departed fourth member of the band, Jamie, who wanted to spend more time with his family. Goodbye is as bewitching as Echosmith has ever been. Its compelling combination of components include earthy acoustic strums, breathy opulent alt pop, and a chill dance complexion that ventures into disco glam and deep tropical waters. Goodbye is like Echosmith pop infused with some Kygo, a bit of Flight Facilities, and a touch of Goldfrapp. Goodbye is available now, here. Echosmith has also announced a new album, Inside A Dream, due to arrive on September 29th via Warner Bros. The band will be touring the US this fall with a stop at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on October 18th!

Let’s kick it up a notch with a spectacular indie dance remix that brings together two acts I dig, Echosmith and Lost Kings, both from Los Angeles. While uplifting and buoyant, there’s also a wonderfully weightless and feathery quality to Los King’s remix of Echosmith’s Bright. It’s a dance anthem with a soft caress, a beautiful official edit with endless radiant summer vibes. Lost Kings is currently working on their very first EP.

Miami based producer Bobby Brush’s latest sublime offering is a remix of Echosmith’s Bright. As you’d expect from the skilled producer, the edit paints heavenly pictures of palm trees, sandy beaches, and long summer days. Muggy saxophone and the original’s heart warming lyrics combine to give the remix some flushed romantic vibes.

It’s true, we may have already heard many amazing remixes of Echosmith hit Cool Kids, of all shapes, types, and sizes, but this one’s going to reel you in, big time. West Coast meets East Coast as Two Friends unites with Gazzo on an exhilarating, uplifting progressive house remix. Bump this one loud and your EDM-head friends will think you’re the cool kid, for sure. Thrilling build ups, killer drops, and big bold synths leave little else to ask for.

OFFICIAL VID: Echosmith – Bright

February 13, 2015

Yes, I know that everyone and their mothers are transfixed and in love with Echosmith’s Cool Kids. Afterall, it is one of the most infectious indie pop songs to come out within the past several years. But might I remind you, there’s much more to Echosmith than just Cool Kids. Today, the Los Angeles act dropped a video for their folk/country flavored single Bright, a delicate and saccharine gem. The song is off their 2013 debut album Talking Dreams, which Cool Kids is off of too. I still remember hearing Cool Kids back then, getting the debut album when it came out, and proclaiming that Cool Kids was going to be a ginormous hit. It ended up being one of those odd ones that took over a year to pick up, but in the end, it shined in the limelight it deserved. Now that you’ve listened to Cool Kids a billion times, turn your attention to the wispy, rustic beauty of Bright.

I’m still chuckling with pleasure due to the fact that Los Angeles act Echosmith’s deeply infectious indie pop song Cool Kids has blown up over the course of this year. It’s some much deserved attention and love. For an indie dance remix of the buzzing tune, who else do we turn to but Andre Allen Anjos, aka RAC? There’s a glowing, laid back charm to this new edition of the song.

I don’t always have time to pay attention to what’s charting and buzzing in the mainstream on the daily, so I was quite pleasantly surprised when my friend told me that Echosmith’s Cool Kids has been picking up some major buzz and love lately. I’ve been a huge fan of the Los Angeles indie pop band’s hottest tune for a long time now. It was featured on their 2013 debut album Talking Dreams. But, the music world works in strange ways sometimes, and some songs get picked up much, much later. Even more pleasant was my discovery that Chicago production duo Win & Woo chose Cool Kids for their latest remix, having just given us a brilliant Odesza Say My Name remix a week prior. For the remix, they give Cool Kids some extra cool points, by flavoring it with plenty of balmy tropical groove (the flavor of the year?) and tons of chill, melodic house atmosphere. As they themselves describe the tune, it’s somewhat Nico & Vinz – esque. Win & Woo, you ARE the cool kids!
