I’m so glad I finally got to see Kristin Kontrol at Popscene early last month. Her debut album X-Communicate was such a ravishing treat and she delivered its songs on stage with such fierce charisma. Kristin Kontrol, who’s also well known as Dee Dee from now retired Dum Dum Girls, has shared a new single this week named Concrete Love. Though our love for her is already deeply set in stone, we find ourselves falling head over heels all over again as she serenades us with a beautifully throbbing, dreamy pulsing synthpop song coated in a sleek shiny, glossy cool sheen. Kristin Kontrol will be supporting Perfume Genius on a couple of Southern California dates next week. We highly recommend you hit them up. Concrete Love is out now on Hunny Music.

Dee Dee, or Kristin Welchez, of Dum Dum Girls made a spectacular debut earlier this year as Kristin Kontrol on one of my favorite retro electropop dance jams of the year, X-Communicate, also the title track from a debut album dropping May 27th via legendary label Sub Pop Records. Kristin Kontrol adds to her lustrous allure with glamorous new single (Don’t) Wannabe. Imagine if Kate Bush went 80′s pulsating pop with an abundance of The Jezabels meets Chairlift modern resplendence. I’m so in love, I just pre-ordered X-Communicate.

Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls (say that mouthful ten times over as quickly as you can) has revealed her solo project, Kristin Kontrol, by dousing us in disco dance resplendence and cosmic electropop glamour on X-Communicate. The debut is pulsating glorious, a Kate Bush, Chairlift, and Donna Summer dance party with neon flashing lights and swooshing fog machines in every corner. X-Communicate is the first single from Kristin Kontrol’s forthcoming debut album. Pre-order form Sub Pop Records before its release on May 27th.

Brooklyn based synthpop trio Lemonade joins forces with Dum Dum Girls’ Dee Dee to deliver a luminously tropical and airy treat named Dancer On The Shore. Its refreshing steel drums and feathery vocals make me feel like I’m soaking my shuffling feet in the bluest waters on an island paradise. It’s a gorgeous summertime song that sends me into relaxed reverie. If you need an escape, this one will whisk you far, far away. The sun soaked gem is available now on iTunes.

I’m much fond of Dum Dum Girls’ dreamy shoegazey noise pop. Turns out, band member Dee Dee is involved in quite a few side projects, including this one, named HUNI, with Andrew Miller, who played guitar in Dum Dum Girls this past year . They bring an air of wispiness and murky grandness on the project’s first single, “Is There Any Other One?”. Sparkling atmosphere frame Dee Dee’s breathy, honeydew vocals on the gorgeous song. It leaves me in a deep reverie, hoping for more music from HUNI.

I’ve previously mentioned that Converse is putting together a compilation album full of seasonal goodies. Noise To The World drops January 5th on free, limited vinyl in their stores. Tracks are getting slowly revealed on their Soundcloud, too, and today brings us a tune from Los Angeles dream pop band Dum Dum Girls. This one’s very much Christmas-y, considering it’s titled On Christmas. Dum Dum Girls’ swirly synthpop sound is perfect for the Holidays.

Los Angeles dream poppers Dum Dum Girls is certainly doing pretty well in the indie scene with their new album Too True, but band member Dee Dee still found time for her project Haunted Hearts with husband Brandon Welchez of the band Crocodiles. They’re gearing up to release a debut full length album titled Initiation on May 27. Johnny Jupiter is a hazy, shoegazy, lo-fi cut off the release with a matching trippy video.

Los Angeles dreamy noise poppers Dum Dum Girls recently dropped their third album Too True on Sub Pop, after bewitching me with their music for for several years now. It seems, with the new album, they’ve attained much more exposure than ever before. Album track Are You Okay is the latest single off Too True, and with the catchy indie pop tune comes a video directed by well known and revered screenwriter and novelist Bret Easton Ellis. It’s an edgy, ominous short film, as would be expected from the man who gave us the intense and twisted film American Psycho.

Dum Dum Girls recently dropped their new album Too True on Sub Pop, and it’s a dreamy, shoegaze filled, lo-fi album. I enjoyed it very much, though 2011’s Only In Dreams is still my favorite album by the Los Angeles quartet. Too True To Be Good is an addicting, luscious track off the album, and the girls have a stylish, fanciful video for it.
