Unless you’re brand new to IHM, you’ve probably put up with quite a lot of my babbling regarding Dan Snaith’s brilliance of the years. The musician and producer from Canada is responsible for one of my all time favorite electronic projects, Caribou, but he’s also the man behind the groundbreaking music that is Daphni, too. In just a few days, Daphni’s new Fabriclive 93 mix, a collection of 23 new unreleased tracks and four new remixes, will be arriving on our doorsteps. We’ve already heard immense taste Tin, let’s now turn our ears and attention to Hey Drum. It truly is an ode to the drum, a study in percussion, and a heady hypnotic deep garage meets R&B house dazzler. Snaith uses his sonic wizardry to jostle and entrance us with an intricate array of rhythms and patterns, which he saturates with his usual command of spacial texture and stereophonic sound. Daphni’s new mix arrives on July 21st.

We continue our journey deep into the dark reaches of the heart with sorrowful and weighty Petricolour, or Petrichor, the exquisite title track from Vienna based producer MOTSA’s new EP. Sophie Lindinger contributes breathtaking ethereal, wispy vaporous vocals to this soulful and stately electronic piece. Steady drum rolls and woozy blaring bass add sensational texture to haunting magnificent Petrichor. The music video for Petrichor matches the song in staggering effect with its pattern of striking visuals. MOTSA’s Petrichor album is out now on Spotify.

A few days ago, British production duo Delta Heavy (responsible for some of my favorite electronic music back at the start of this decade if not one of the most epic animated music videos in Hold Me) dropped their White Flag EP, a four track release that includes various remixes of the title track. One of these edits comes by way of Scottish producer Tisoki, who injects the original with a massive dose of carbonated energy. White Flag isn’t exactly a peaceful surrender. It’s a spirited jolting eruption of turbulent dubstep. This is more the last stand before the surrender, a wild and resolute, passionate and heroic display of grit and courage. Stream Delta Heavy’s White Flag EP on Soundcloud, and purchase the release on iTunes.

I never really listened to Danity Kane in my younger days, as much as they were an influential force in the music scene for quite some time, but I’m most certainly following along with ex Danity Kane member Dawn Richard’s solo career these days. And I’m not the only one, too. Dawn Richard, or D∆WN, has been releasing some stellar eletropop and R&B ballads, turning heads and winning ears over all across the tastemakers board. D∆WN goes dance energetic on zippy piquant new tune Wake Up, a whorling magnificent, throbbing dynamic jam produced by ever brilliant Machinedrum. It’s no secret that D∆WN’s forthcoming full length RED*emp*tion is shaping up to be a must listen release when it comes out later this year. Wake Up is available now from iTunes.

It’s been way too long since we’ve heard a new original from UK producer Alex Metric, but that long absence was well worth the wait now that he’s unleashed Drum Machine on us. Featuring London’s The New Sins, Drum Machine is a bonafide banger and twitchy booty shaker that quickly lives up to its playful name. I nearly wish I had a drumstick in my hand to swing along to the hypnotic beat and high hats of Drum Machine. The percussion heavy treat comes from a forthcoming EP named Ammunition PT 4.

Swedish duo Icona Pop dropped a new tune today to follow up on their surprisingly soulful and brassy last song Emergency. The electro pop and dance duo continue to bring in some retro, earthy pop vibes on bold and brash First Time, which brings in Phantogram like hues of trip hoppiness and a garage like percussive roll. For those of you who only know the duo for Charli XCX penned I Love It, it’s time you came to realize how versatile and multi-dimensioned Aino and Caroline are. First Time is off their Emergency EP, out tomorrow (July 17th).
