We’ve never “dropped out” of loving versatile Santa Barbara trio Dropout, and we don’t foresee that ever happening, particularly if the group continues surprising us with their sonic forte and chameleon skills with songs like their recent collaboration with Los Angeles songbird Anna Clendening. Dropout has taken us on quite a trip with the different types of dance and electronic tracks they’ve given us. With U n Me, they offer a chill house meets summery pop amalgam that leaves us more than content and blissed out. Summer isn’t officially here yet, but it might as well be. A gooey core and soft sweetness melts our hearts on the whistle resplendent ditty. Re-visit some of Dropout’s prior releases on Soundcloud, here.

A new paycheck is always fine reason to celebrate and paint the town red (with hopefully not all of your newly acquired funds), but a track entitled Paycheck that unites Indiana based electropop project The Ready Set and long time Santa Barbara IHM favorites Dropout is a late night dance soiree must! We somehow managed to let this one slip by after it dropped late last month, but it’s never too late to revel in Paycheck’s rosy twinkling glow. With crystalline chords and a brisk endearing melody, Paycheck lifts our spirits and warms the heart. The future tropical anthem is a summer playlist must. The feel good anthem can also be streamed via Spotify, here.

IHM has been eagerly sharing Dropout’s music for well over two years, devoutly watching and listening as the Santa Barbara outfit honed their skills and developed their versatility. Every one of their songs have felt passionately “handcrafted", but their latest has never felt more deeply emotive. They explore the boundaries of pop music and dance music on the single, delivering a fresh sound that feels acoustically tender yet uptempo rousing. Handcrafted melds sincere acoustics with buoyant beats into one mellifluous lilting chill house soother. Snag Dropout’s latest gem, here.

Dirty South’s deep mesmeric hit single, All Of Us, which features bewitching indie duo ANIMA!, is the latest cut to be remixed by Santa Barbara electronic duo Dropout. While the original had some dark tech edge, Dropout’s All Of Us gets a spacey atmospheric transformation. Aside from a few pensive moments, this is a percussive rolling, arpeggio enticing cinematic dubstep and future house makeover that packs much uplifting, invigorating power. The remix follows on Dropout’s playful “character assassination” of sorts, Mr. Trump, an original you must stream below, particularly if you find the current state of politics in the U.S. rather absurd.

Our Santa Barbara boys Dropout are doing incredible things once again as they drop (pun intended) a scintillating new one in the form of Never Hate You, which features gorgeous vocals by one Anna Clendening. Never Hate You is actually a mashup cover affair, one that brings together Flume & Kai’s smash hit Never Be Like You and gnash & Olivia O’Brien’s “i hate u, i love u”, two tunes I adore massively. How they ever came up with this idea eludes my mind, but I’m plenty grateful they did. Never Hate You is divine, a seamless fusion of two tremendous songs. They combine to form one epic bouncy banger of an uplifting electronic jam. I’ll never be confused between choosing one song over another to listen to again. Well played, thank you, guys. Dropout’s Never Hate You is a free download, here.

Pensively brooding electronica invades my heart, courtesy of Santa Barbara’s Dropout. The long time IHM supported and much versatile production duo drop us into a world ripe with somber emotion and electrifying intensity on My Muse. Dropout goes dark and haunting on their new jam. Its sooty timbre feels like The Neighborhood gone future bass and electro house. My Muse is a free download, here.

Time really flies when you spend it mired so deeply in new music releases and championing artists and bands over a long period of time. I can’t believe it’s already been over a year since I first started heaping endless praise on Santa Barbara trio Dropout, and it’s been a fun ride watching others pick up on their brilliance. Dropout returns this week with a hot new single named You Always Win, out on Big Beat Records. It’s their first new material since stunning the electronic music scene with anonymously released Slowly earlier this year. Dropout continues their path to viral success with the new one, an incredibly catchy and energetic romper that blends Miike Snow like lush indie dance with the heavy beats of Galantis like house. It’s a gorgeously rippling song fitting of both dance floor and bittersweet sing alongs when you’re pining for someone in solitude. You Always Win is available now on iTunes.

So, this bomb dropped on my head earlier today, in a good way, and it had me all giddy and jittery with such mad excitement and joy. Some of you might have heard of a song this past month named Slowly, a mysterious viral jam from an anonymous act. The deep and luscious song has been making the electronic scene rounds, gaining support from a bevy of well loved acts, including Oliver Heldens, Pete Tong, and The Magician. In the meantime, people were wondering… who’s responsible for this anthemic dance pop meets booming house banger? Some even thought it might be a ZHU tune! Today, it was revealed that the magnificent act responsible for Slowly is none other than my dear Los Angeles based trio, DROPOUT

These guys are ninjas! I had no idea they were up to these delicious tricks. You might recall that IHM has been a devoted follower of Dropout’s music since their debut song late last year. I was wondering why I hadn’t heard from them in a long while. THIS IS WHY. They’ve been busy with this hypnotizing summer dance track! With the big reveal also comes a new visualizer to accompany the song. Slowly brings in a genre defying mesh of G-house, funk, future house, and deep house to pack a powerful, thrilling, and infectious punch. Welcome back, Dropout! Except not really, you were back, incognito. Slowly will be available on Big Beat Records come June 16th.
