I’ve been waiting for this dreamy diaphanous gem from Yowler to go off embargo for a requisite share. Well, today’s the lucky day we all get to sway wistfully to Go, the latest solo offering from All Dogs and Saintseneca’s Maryn Jones. She doles out candid aching, saccharine melting bedroom pop on the soft & subdued hymnal. Go is one of two new songs that will be on a re-issued version of Yowler’s debut album The Offer, out June 16th via Double Double Whammy. Pre-order, here.

Great Grandpa will be releasing their debut album Plastic Cough on July 7th via Double Double Whammy. Despite the fact that this is coming up soon, I’ve somehow managed to miss out on the Seattle based rock band, until now. New track Fade changes everything. It hooked me straight in with its vibrant pop hooks and 90′s rock riffs. Fade is a scuzzy knotted explosion of warm nostalgia and restless angst, an addictive rush that ends too soon. Immediately after plenteous listens to Fade, I had to dive into Great Grandpa’s prior single off Plastic Cough, Teen Challenge, which you can stream below, too. It’s yet another gritty chugging Weezer meets Slothrust thriller. Great Grandpa has announced a full US Summer tour with Rozwell Kid that include dates with Vundabar and Chris Farren, too. Pre-order Plastic Cough, here.

There’s a certain truth that resonates with me when it comes to the long title of this song, All You Gotta Be When You’re 23 Is Yourself. I remember being 23 and how less complicated life seemed to be back then. All I was at that age was myself, and there seemed to be far less to worry about outside of the present moment. Indeed there’s a certain earnestness and sincerity to Free Cake For Every Creature’s lo-fi guitar pop, and their new music video for the song is just as straight forward intimate and endearing. The song comes from the Philadelphia based band’s debut album Talking Quietly Of Anything With You, which came out earlier this year. Aside from an apparent penchant for long names and a generosity when it comes to cake, this band is also thoroughly captivating and charming with their Wolf Alice gone lo-fi twee sound. Free Cake For Every Creature will be touring with Diet Cig this September. Their debut album is available from Double Double Whammy.

New Yorkers LVL UP unleashed a new video for their grungy gem DBTS, and seeing as I’m quite a fan of the tune and their muddy indie rock sound, I’m jumping on a re-share of the tune. DBTS is like a walk down 90’s memory lane with its growling vocals and moody vocals. There’s an epic grandiosity to the melodramatic, scuzzy song, which is on their sophomore album Hoodwink’d, out now on Double Double Whammy. LVL UP embarks on a North American tour later this month.

If grainy, gritty alt rock music is your thing, and you haven’t heard of New York’s LVL UP yet (despite my prior feature), you’re welcome. Their new fuzzy tune DBTS is nearly an homage to 90’s rock with its heaving, growling guitars and baritone vocals. The wholly satisfying track is off their sophomore album Hoodwink’d, out September 23 via Double Double Whammy. Revisit previously featured Soft Power below, a less scuzzy but more pop punk leaning tune.

New York’s LVL UP is finally preparing to release their sophomore album, Hoodwink’d, on September 23 via Double Double Whammy. Some have waited a long three years to get a new album sized dose of their grungy lo-fi rock music. Soft Power is a satisfying, grainy first taste off the coming album, complete with pop punk punchiness and wonderfully swirly guitars. If you find it leaves you craving for more of LVL UP’s alt rock, follow up Soft Power with crunchy stomper Cross The Sea below, which was on a split 7" with Porches back in November.
