I just shared the new video for Diet Cig’s Barf Day over the weekend, and here we are again, partaking in the acclaimed New York pop punk duo’s charming music as they drop a fresh new single on us fans. Together We Can Conquer Whatever is a brand new treat too (not from their recent debut album), which the pair have released as a contribution to upcoming Amazon Original Special “An American Girl Story – Summer Camp, Friends For Life.” The head wagging gem is meant to represent young girls in a positive, meaningful way. It’s a saccharine lifting treat from a band who certainly seem like they can “conquer whatever” as they continue to provide us with dulcet lilting yet raw affecting tunes. Snag the song from Amazon, here.

New York pop punk duo Diet Cig released their debut album Swear I’m Good At This earlier this year, and all the critical acclaim it received was well deserved. Sadly, despite their popularity at SXSW earlier this year and their stop in San Francisco, I’ve yet to catch Alex and Noah live. That’s at the top of my list as something that needs to change. In case you haven’t caught wind of it yet, Diet Cig released a music video for their endearing single Barf Day yesterday. It’s an adorable clip that goes hand in hand with some of the song’s lyrics about birthday parties and ice cream. And any chance to revisit the angst ridden, raw and earnest tune is a good one in my books. Despite its gritty crunching scuzz, Barf Day is so melodically enticing and a whole lot of fun. Swear I’m Good At This is out via Frenchkiss, snag it here.

New York’s Diet Cig just announced their debut album, Swear I’m Good At This, set to arrive April 7th on Frenchkiss. We already know from our prior encounters with the duo that they are more than good at what they do. Just listen to their new single, Tummy Ache, a restless pleasing affair despite its anxiety laden pop punk, chock-full of craggy crunching chords and raw youthful angst. Diet Cig explains that the song is “all about unpacking the feeling of approachign punk with radical softness, and the struggle when it’s not always read as powerful or cool or whatever enough.”  Tummy Ache is available as a single from Amazon, where you can also pre-order Diet Cig’s debut album Swear I’m Good At This in full.

New York duo Diet Cig’s raw and angsty punk pop music is infectiously hooking and charming on new single Sleep Talk, which will be released along with Dinner Date on limited 7″ white frosted clear vinyl via both Father/Daughter and Art Is Hard. Sleep Talk will also be released digitally on July 10th. Despite the lo-fi, noisy coarseness of Sleep Talk, it’s a tender, melting lovelorn gem. They remind me of some of Girlpool’s music on the endearing single.
