One of the first things I did this morning after I got up was listen to new Lykke Li. Yes, you read that right. New. Lykke. Li. Pretty huge deal, huh? The beloved Swedish indie pop luminary teased us recently with a cryptic clip on her socials, and now she’s announced a guest talent studded new album named ‘so sad so sexy’, out June 8th on RCA Records. As if our hearts weren’t pumping hard with excitement just from this news, Lykke has also dropped two brand new songs from the album. ‘hard rain’, which you can stream above, was even produced by illustrious musician (and ex-Vampire Weekend member) Rostam. It’s a sparse rhythmic captivator, with very Rostam-like drifting synths and soft beats. Lykke Li also shared a second song named ‘deep end’, produced by Jeff Bhasker, Malay, and T-Minus, which sees her shifting her sound towards more of an R&B inflected pop tone. New album ‘so sad so sexy’ will also feature Aminé and more. You can pre-order, here.

Let’s toppled off the “deep end” with this emerging 19 year old Australian talent, Vincent Sole, as he croons soulfully over a dramatic swelling soundscape on his smooth new single. Deep End’s wavy euphoric indie electronica glowers yet melts. The song, which was created in collaboration with Malcolm Besley (Northeast Party House, City Calm Down), comes ahead of Vincent Sole’s highly anticipated debut headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this April. He explains that the song “tells a story about freestyling the rest of my teen years and taking a leap of faith, to lead my life into something bigger.”

I still recall the moment I encountered Los Angeles’ Tarro over a year ago. He literally dropped my jaw with his bewitching chill trap. Though those early tracks I shared seem to be long gone from Soundcloud, the producer makes a ravishing return to IHM with a remix of hip hop and alt R&B duo THEY.’s Deep End. We gladly tumble into the “deep end” of this heavy stuttering trap and future bass remix as Tarro carries us away with hard skittering drums and grand brooding atmosphere. The gloriously riveting remix is a free download, here.

Ground breaking Los Angeles crew and Mind Of A Genius signed forward thinking duo THEY. deliver more of their genre defying magic on new single Deep End. Coincidentally, I just received some mad swag from Mind Of A Genius including a dope beanie and a cool THEY. shirt which I’ll be sporting with pride. Deep End sees the duo marrying trap and hip hop with alt R&B, resulting in a gritty seductive, blistering hypnotic immersion into their subterranean world. The duo call the track “trap R.Kelly sh*t”, a very accurate self description. Deep End was recorded in 2Pac’s old room. I’m still reeling from the sheer power of the duo’s live set from SXSW in March. Hopefully I’ll get to experience their performances again soon.

Norwegian synthpop act Coucheron’s Deep End, featuring Mayer Hawthorne and Eastside, is a helluva glistening good tune, but this nu-disco house remix by fellow Norwegian electronic artist Matoma is certainly a dreamy, lustrous delight, too. It’s rather grey and overcast in San Francisco today, so this is the perfect dose of summery, tropical sunshine and languid dreaminess that I needed. And if that isn’t enough tasty, balmy earfuls of happiness for you, Matoma has another brand new treat for us in the form of this chill tropical house remix of British R&B/soul artist Marlon Roudette’s When The Beat Drops Out. Two sweet, blissed out remixes in one week. Matoma, you’re much too generous.

I do so love Norwegian synthpop act Coucheron’s single Deep End, which features Eastside and Mayer Hawthorne, for a trifecta that apparently works wonders together. The pulsing, disco tinged gem has a fittingly summery video to go with it now. So if you passed up on it the last couple times I featured it, hurry up and listen. It’s pure glistening heaven.

Norwegian disco loving synth pop act Coucheron follow up terrific single Deep End with blissful new tune Take Me Back, a super summery listen that pays tribute to what Coucheron calls “cheesy ‘80s rock”. It’s meant to be cheesy, and it comes off epic and indulgently good. Revisit shimmering, effervescent gem Deep End below, which features Mayer Hawthorne and Eastside as guests. The track has been streamed close to 400K times on SoundCloud since I first stumbled upon it 2 months back. Wow. I’m not surprised.
