Ever enigmatic production luminary ZHU dropped his new EP Ringos Desert Pt 1 last month, on which he continued to push the boundaries of house music and electronica. We were hoping the new release and the lack of a Bay Area tour date on his fall DUNE tour meant he would be announced as part of this year’s Treasure Island Music Festival lineup. Though we’re rather disappointed that this hasn’t happened, we’re also quite glad that ZHU has dropped a music video for slinky smoldering

Still Want U, his song with England’s Karnaval Blues. It’s the second track from Ringos Desert Pt 1, and a sparse misty, spacious burbling dose of deep humming, sensual simmering house hypnosis. Learn more about ZHU’s DUNE tour, here. We’re holding out hope that there’s still going to be an announcement about additional dates. Stream Ringos Desert Pt 1, here.

“Nobody” does glamorous, luscious house quite like Ferdinand Weber does, and it’s been a very long time since we’ve danced our evening hours away to a fresh new original from the German producer. So when we saw a new banger floating around from the producer on our feed, we jumped on it instantly. Seconds later, we were grooving out to his deep pumping, steamy surging dance track, Nobody, a posh and infectious, plush and contagious heater with tons of classic house vibes. Join the party, stream/download Nobody, here.

We’ve been fans of Future Classic-signed Australian singer songwriter and producer Hayden James for a very, very long time. In fact, our love for his debut single Permission to Love has never faltered or faded, and it’s still one of our favorites today. So when a new Hayden James song crops up, we prepare ourselves for some true music magic, which is exactly what we get on Just Friends, which features creamy crooner Boy Matthews on guest vocals. Just Friends straddles the line between vivacious dance music and Years & Years like upbeat R&B pop with its pumping bass and incendiary disco beats. Download/stream this glorious Hayden James return, here. Then dance the night away to the friend-zone anthem.

I think it’s safe to fathom that the majority of you have already been enjoying this gargantuan sized collaboration since it dropped on Monday. Even if so, it’s only proper we take a moment to marvel at long awaited My Life. ZHU has been teasing the track for quite some time now, and it’s been well worth the anticipation. The San Francisco native and much beloved producer has linked up with Australian psych rock legends Tame Impala on an ambient spiraling masterpiece, which features hypnotic synth arpeggios and booming house beats. Their visualizer for My Life is also deeply transfixing with a sleek Porsche traveling down a warped desert road. We’d love to live our life riding in an expensive sports car to the tune of this crisp pulsing, brassy warbling jam. ZHU will be hitting the road again this fall, check out his tour dates, here.

Two of our faves from the budding new music scene in 2017 (who are poised to rule the music world this year) come together on this next official remix. SOFI TUKKER, the Grammy nominated alt dance/house pop duo who’s topping charts these days with their latest single Best Friend, has remixed pop wunderkind Billie Eilish’s COPYCAT, and the resulting edit is wicked good. Billie Eilish’s voice has never sounded more bewitching and teasing than on this snazzy simmering, deep pumping house remix, which pairs SOFI TUKKER’s usual deep dance flair with a sexy pulsing retro house vibe reminiscent of Grum. Grab this dark foxy remix from iTunes, here.

I had to pick my jaw off the floor when I encountered a brand new track from Chicago’s Autograf earlier today. I know they’re versatile chameleons in the electronic arena, but I never expected they’d offer up a cover of Nirvana’s classic hit, Smells Like Teen Spirit. Queen Sessi lays down celestial vocals on the expansive electronic re-imagining of the grunge rock song. This is a Smells Like Teen Spirit I could have never fathomed, a beautifully profound, meditative sprawling ambient electronic and organic house take on the legendary track. Smells Like Teen Spirit seems to be Autograf’s final gift to us in 2017, and they’ve made it a sweet free download, here.

Let’s wax philosophical with Ampermut, a deep house and pop project from Vienna. Except, instead of a droll study regarding our existence and values, Ampermut is going to enthrall us with a uniquely mesmeric experience on their song, Philosophy. Sooty pumping, earthy thrumming electronica and soulful vocal licks lift us towards nirvana. For a moment, we do understand the existence of life. It’s to connect with others through music we enjoy, and we certainly feel less alone when shuffling our feet to Ampermut. Philosophy’s guitar laden electronica is like Broken Back meets Bob Moses, with a heady dose of spaciness. The track is the title track and one of two tunes from Ampermut’s new EP, which can be streamed, here. Watch their music video for the EP, here.

Prolific Swiss DJ and producer EDX makes a creamy effulgent, crisp springing return on his latest original, Runnin’. The sharp vigor of future house meets the dreamy smoothness of deep melodic house and the cathartic aeronautics of progressive house on EDX’s epic new track. Runnin’ arrives just as EDX is celebrating two decades at the forefront of the music industry with a milestone show at the Fonda Theatre in LA on November 25th. Runnin’ it out now on Enormous Tunes, stream/download, here.

Philadelphia trap, grime, and hip hop expert Baauer unites with Canadian turntablist and producer A-Trak on a surprise two track EP to go along with the big announcement of their B2B tour together. That’s right. Baauer. A-Trak. Together. The two celebrated producers meld their individual styles on Dumbo Drop, a hypnotic bass thumper that lurks in the shadows, or on a dark basement dance floor. For a funky vivacious jungle tease, dive into the other track on the EP below. Fern Gully is a lush sonic oasis, one which you won’t be able to resist shaking your booty to, all night long. Both tracks are out now on Fool’s Gold Records. Stream/purchase, here.

How this beast of a collaboration managed to slip by me for much of the month befuddles me, and I thank my lucky stars I was fortunate enough to encounter House Party this week, albeit delayed. After all, it comes from two magnificent acts that we love, including NYC’s The Knocks and seasoned Los Angeles production trio Captain Cuts. They serve up zestful disco funk on the appropriately titled house banger, a naughty but nice, slick and glam bonanza. I used to throw massive house parties back in the day before I had to stop because they were getting way too big. If only I had House Party to request from my DJ friends, it would have been pure perfection. Download this debonair zinger, here.
