Heads up, this official remix of David Guetta and Afrojack’s star studded delight Dirty Sexy Money, which also involves Charli XCX and rapper French Montana, is huge. And who else would it come from but fast rising Los Angeles production duo BLVK JVCK? My days of gambling my money away playing blackjack may be long over, but I gladly double down on this pair and their scintillating, percolating form of future trap and bass, which works so flawlessly when infused into the smash single. Dirty Sexy Money, which captures everything boom bap and punch kick that we love about Charli XCX’s music (she co-wrote the original with Noonie Bao, whose sparkly spryness is unmistakable on the track, too), gets a high voltage, hyper active workover in the dexterous hands of BLVK JVCK. Who says the party ends when the weekend ends? Dance your face off to this vivacious remix and take it with you into the rest of the week. Re-visit our feature of the original track, here. I suggest you alternate the track with Elohim’s new jam Fuck Your Money for some clever thematic effect.

With a name like Dirty Sexy Money, we already know to expect bombastic and big, bold and resounding. And that’s exactly what we get on this bonafide bop from production bigwigs David Guetta and Afrojack, who’ve teamed up with UK pop visionary Charli XCX and rapper French Montana to give us this sleek glistening, beat hammering extravaganza. Aside from lending her voice to the song, Charli XCX also helped to co-write the song with Sweden’s Noonie Bao, and her punchy spunk can be found everywhere in the song, as well as some of the sleek sharpness of her recent collaborations with SOPHIE and other producers. Skrillex also helped produce the track, so Dirty Sexy Money is a wildly star studded composition. The animated lyric video for the song is also pretty nifty.

I had the pleasure of catching American mashup producer Kap Slap live a couple weeks ago in San Francisco, and boy, was that fun. He’s proving himself to be what some call the “Girl Talk of EDM”. Don’t let that mislead you though, he mashes far more than just dance trax. The guy’s really, really good at what he does. On top of that, he just graduated from college with a double degree (I forget in what, economics and something else scientific?). So, now he’s focusing 100% of himself to his music prowess. Get ready to hear the name Kap Slap a crap ton more. Here’s a mega uber high energy hour long mix to get you into a frenzy. He called it the Spring Break Mix 2013. This one’s obviously pretty focused on the EDM stuff.

Spectrum remix

May 29, 2012

Mega popular electronic producer Calvin Harris remixed Florence & The Machine’s Spectrum (Say My Name) and made it a club ready dance track. It’s a fun, decent enough version. Can’t go wrong when the original track is by such a talented artist, right?

Here’s another slightly older remix by Avicii and David Guetta, which has a big leg up on the Calvin Harris version. Again, fun house music to get hyped up with.

OFFICIAL VID: Jessie J – Laserlight ft. Dave Guetta

April 10, 2012

Laserlight is one of the last singles off of Jessie J’s breakout album Domino, and it’s a great pop track featuring none other than dance music beatmaster Dave Guetta. Some of the stuff he puts out with the big names is wayyy too contrived for me, but I’m partial to Jessie J since she’s actually very talented and can sing up a storm. Laserlight is a fun song and joins the ranks of so many pop and dance tracks that have to do with light in some way or another. Now, where’s the dubstep remix?

Here we go with the end of the year mashups

December 2, 2011

Epic end of the year mashups have been picking up in popularity. DJ Earworm helped to start the trend with his yearly mix, with each year getting better than the previous year for the MOST part. 2010’s mashup was not half as good as 2009’s, since it heavily relied on Ke$ha’s Tik Tok too much and did not have an uplifting message, unlike previous years. 2010’s was all about being immature & drunk and about partying all the time. Well, of course it’s not the time yet for DJ Earworm’s 2011 mix, but here’s Mashup-Germany’s and it does not disappoint. As often the case with these multi track mashups, I love some of the songs utilized, I find some songs overrated (yet perhaps the easiest to mix to), and the end result is a fun chimera of the year. Without further ado, I bring you Top of the Pops 2011 [What the F*ck]!

Mashup-Germany mixing:
Taio Cruz – Hangover
LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem
Adele – Rolling in the deep

Avicii – Levels

Britney Spears – Till the world ends
LMFAO – Sexy and I know it
Maroon 5 – Moves like Jagger
David Guetta feat. Flo Rida – Where dem Girls at
