A “confidence man” by traditional definition, is a con man who’ll likely bilk you out of your money or trick you in some way. But as we’ve learned already from last year’s Better Sit Down Boy, this Confidence Man isn’t here to deceive us but to thrill us with the Melbourne band’s indie dance and dance rock music. They make a resounding and ‘confident’ splash as they bring us cheeky Don’t You Know I’m In A Band, alongside news of their debut album Confident Music For Confident People, which will arrive April 13th on Heavenly Recordings. So go ahead, strut your stuff, and get down and dirty to their spacey synths and cowbells embellished groover, which sits somewhere between recent faves like SOFI TUKKER and NVDES. Confidence Man will be playing a series of shows back home in Australia this May, ticket info can be found, here. Stream/purchase Don’t You Know I’m In A Band, here.

Electronic outfit Park Hotel is at it again. They’ve ignited a solo dance frenzy in my room with their steamy dance rock and disco with Good People Bad Dreams, a high voltage extravaganza that evokes legends like Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, Soulwax, The Rapture, and Friendly Fires. Sure, good people do have bad dreams very often, but this is more like a fevered dream of a tune, a deliriously whirling, flashy kicking extravaganza. The track was chosen as last month’s Kitsuné Hot Stream, and deservedly so. Grab the torrid blazing banger, here.

Novocain is a common anesthetic, which as most people who’ve had surgery or some sort of dental procedure know, causes numbness. But British quartet BLOXX’s new single Novocain is far from numbing or desensitizing. Its assured strut and contagious bassline drives us to tap our feet feverishly. The rising four piece have a huge year ahead of them, including a tour UK with Pale Waves, dates with The Wombats, a string of other spring gigs, as well as several fest appearances. I can imagine them igniting the crowd with Novocain and its exuberant art rock meets shimmering guitar pop energy. Download or stream Novocain, here.

The circumference of the globe spans 24,901 miles. At a million miles, we can circle the globe over 40 times. But such an arduous journey might be well worth our time, if it could bring us to London’s Bakar, the brilliant artist who caught our attention a few months ago with his deep croon and his dynamic and genre bending offerings. His new song is named ‘million miles’, and he gives us a front seat to his rapid fire vocals on the hard-to-classify offering that melds dance rock, alt hip hop, and a billion other things together, kind of like a strangely enthralling amalgamation of Gorillaz, Yellow Days, King Krule, and Kid Cudi. When it comes to creativity and eclectic genius, Bakar is a new king. Stream more of this visionary artist’s music on Soundcloud, here.

Makeness maketh us eagerly step in sync with his new single, Stepping Out Of Sync and its fresh music video, too. The slick pumping track comes from the Scottish producer’s just announced debut album, Loud Patterns, arriving this April on Secretly Canadian. Stepping Out Of Sync is a euphoric torrent of ravishing beats and opulent synths. The upbeat number reminds us of Foals’ dance rock gone RÜFÜS DU SOL house. For another taste of Makeness’ wonderfully enthralling electronica, stream prior single Day Old Death, below.

It felt like forever ago when we first fell in love with Joywaves’ Tongues, which featured dance/electro project KOPPS as a guest. I think we’ll forever be addicted to that incredibly infectious, vivacious bopping jam. Today, we’re ecstatic that the two projects have reunited on a fresh new jam. KOPPS douses us with some incendiary alt electro and corrosive dance rock on appropriately named Hott, and the track features fellow New Yorkers Joywave as the guest this time around. It’s a slinky, steamy affair and another stellar offering from this team of inventive musicians. Snag the blazing tune from iTunes, here.

Los Angeles based pop newcomer jesse saint john, who’s been a force of a songwriter for the likes of Brooke Candy and Britney Spears in the past, steps out of the shadows with his first single MOVE, a high voltage dance rock and dance pop extravaganza that does exactly that, make us move. It’s a sterling dance floor hit from the writer, a vigorous and animated, kinetic and punchy jam that more than jump starts his new chosen path as a solo artist. The debonair tune can be streamed and downloaded, here.

Who else but Danish production duo THANKS could immediately inspire us to don our dancing shoes and bust out some sweet moves after a long day? The pair are back with their rambunctious dance rock and French house inflected disco house on their frisky bacchanalian banger Sunshine. So go on, let that sunshine into your heart, throw your hands up in the air, and party the night away to this funkalicious groover. It’ll leave you beaming in joy just before you dive back in head first. Sunshine even has some wonderfully acidic moments for a full on dizzying trip of a soiree. It’s like Basement Jaxx meets C2C and Junior Senior. Stream/download the track, here.

Electro-funk legends Chromeo have been teasing us for awhile now regarding their next album, and though we still don’t know exactly when Head Over Heels will be released, at least we now know it’s dropping in spring. Dave 1 and P-Thugg have also unveiled a follow up to lead single Juice, even partnering up with R&B/hip hop luminary The-Dream on Bedroom Calling. Chromeo says they’ve been obsessed with The-Dream since Fast Car from his first album. To them, The-Dream is a modern day funk auteur, like Prince or El Debarge, and their new song pays homage to their favorite work of his. Chromeo also announced their expansive world tour this spring, kicking off in Vancouver on April 3rd with a stop in the bay on April 7th at the Fox Theater. Delicious icing on the cake? Electronic project Phantoms will be traveling with them to Oakland, too. Visit Chromeo’s website, here, for more details. For now, we can dance it up and get on down to funkalicious, groovalicious Bedroom Calling, a snazzy strutting R&B funk swooner.
