It’s been awhile again since we last heard from Dana Janssen, the man behind the project Dana Buoy, who’s also known for his role as percussionist for Akron/Family. It’s not often that he blesses us with new music from his solo project, but when he does, it’s always well worth the wait. The Portland musician is back with news of a long awaited new album and a wavy sparkling, glossy churning new treat named Ice Glitter Gold. The song also happens to be the title track from his new album, arriving February 23rd via Everloving. Dana Buoy’s new single is a polished and atmospheric examination of missed connections and altered states, aptly described as the thrum of 21st century psychedelia meets European dance floor chic. Dapper indeed is this late night indie bop, awash with fierce guitars, retro charm, and throbbing beats. Grab the song and pre-order the album via iTunes, here.

Dana Janssen, the percussionist from Akron/Family, has been relatively quiet for the past two years under his solo project moniker of Dana Buoy. That silence has been broken with a bright, intoxicating, and synthy alt pop single titled Preacher. It’s the kind of song you want to soundtrack your life after climbing to some great height on a beautiful day, when you raise your arms in triumph. Preacher is the terrific title track off a new EP, out July 22 on Middle West. Dana Buoy will also tour with Sylvan Esso this fall. That would be a sweet double treat.

OFFICIAL VID: Dana Buoy – Call To Be

I totally gravitated towards the sounds in this indie pop tune when I first shared it. The same thing is happening again as I watch and listen to the new music video for Call To Be, the first single from Dana Janssen, the percussionist for Akron/Family. The song is just so uplifting and cheerful. It’s off of Dana Buoy’s solo project album Summer Bodies. Call To Be is definitely worth listening to while cruising with the top or windows down on a sunny day. Or while jogging!

This one’s a MUST share. Call To Be from Dana Buoy is a sweeping and soaring piece of music with great Afro beats and percussion. Dana Buoy is the solo project of Dana Janssen, who is the percussionist for Akron/Family.  His debut album releases in May titled Summer Bodies.
