OFFICIAL VID: Meiko – Stuck On You

December 8, 2011

Meiko’s Stuck On You is an adorable song with an adorable video to boot. It will be on her new album The Bright Side, dropping in Spring of 2012. It’s another album I’ve contributed to on Pledge Music. Meiko is also another artist that I discovered while she was on the wonderful Hotel Cafe Tour in 2008 and have been following ever since. She has a lovely voice and is great at songwriting. Check out some of her other work over the past few years when you get a chance. Meiko’s voice also fits jazzy, soulful music very well. And she’s done a song with The Crystal Method that I love, titled Falling Hard, which they specifically wrote just to collaborate with her.

Oh what the hey, I’ll tack on what I’ve mentioned while I’m at this… though I recall sharing before some time ago.

RE:GENERATION

re:gemeratopm

So I happened to catch the commercial for this on television while watching the not-at-all impressive “Grammy nominations” show last evening. I also played a little game of “who can pronounce Bon Iver right?”. Nicki Minaj failed miserably. Taraji P Henson was the winner with perfect French intonation. Bruno Mars won best effort for pronouncing almost correct, but not drawing the eeee in Iver out enough. Anyway, back to the commercial, I saw it and looked up what the dealio was immediately. Check this video out for RE:GENERATION:

And here’s information I found on the project via this website:

RE:GENERATION is a feature length documentary that explores the history of music through the eyes of five modern DJ/Producers. The extremely talented DJs embark on a musical odyssey to create a cutting edge electronic track inspired by one of five traditional musical genres: Jazz, R&B, Country, Classical and Rock.

In addition to Skrillex working with The Doors, the project, which is actually co-produced by the Grammys, brought in DJ Premier to produce a classical track with Nas and the Berklee School of Music Orchestra; Pretty Lights, who produced a country song with Leann Rimes and Ralph Stanley; the Crystal Method, who traveled to Detroit to record an R&B track with Martha Reeves; and Mark Ronson, who collaborated with Erykah Badu, members of the Dap Kings and Trombone Shorty for a jazz tune in New Orleans.

The documentary will premiere in early 2012 and will most likely be a big part of the Grammys next year.

Interesting, eh? Can’t wait to hear how some of these collaborations will sound, since they’re really mixing things up. Here’s the official RE:GENERATION website:
