It’s been long established that Computer Magic, or Brooklyn artist Danielle Johnson, is more than magical with her hypnotic entrancing electronic pop. She takes us into a fantastical sonic wonderland on new synthpop delight, Dimensions. The artsy experimental, fuzzy whirring song hovers about us like pixie dust. Dimensions comes from Computer Magic’s forthcoming EP, Obscure But Visible, scheduled for release October 7th on Channel 9 Records. The title of the record is a fine companion to Dimensions, a vivid yet opaque gem.

Danielle Johnson, aka Computer Magic, has been entrancing me with her hypnotic electronic pop music for some years now. She brings that magic aplenty on Be Fair, an endearingly saccharine first single from a long awaited US debut album named Davos. The digital pop song whorls circles around us with its synthy buoyancy and honeyed vocals, at times exuding a pulsing dance energy similar to that of Dragonette’s. Davos will be released on October 16th.

I used to be a gamer, not seriously, just somewhat of one, but when I saw Computer Magic announce a “blizzard song”, for some reason, I thought of the gaming company Blizzard. But no, of course that’s not what she meant, duh. What she’s referring to is a new song she worked on during the “blizzard” that hit, or didn’t hit, NYC the past few days. The producer indeed brings some flittering ethereal magic on her experimental electronic imbued synthpop pop song Dreams Of Better Days (Don’t Pass Me By). A hint of swirly psychedelia and plenty of haunting, gossamer vibes accompany Danielle Johnson’s wispy, dreamy vocals. The intoxicating gem is a one off, with no plans to be released with a forthcoming full length.

more electI introduced New York producer Computer Magic, aka Danielle Johnson, back in January with much affection. Today, she’s released a video for her spacey, 90’s throwback track A Million Years. There’s just something infectious about the beats and now, the footage of her dancing adds to the hypnotizing effects. These days, there are a LOT of hot rising male producer talents. It’s rare that a female makes it to the buzzlines. Way to go, Danielle! Check out my previous post which included a few other Computer Magic tracks.

EDIT: After a quick checkup on her facebook page, I’ve realized she’s also previewed a new, heavier, more electro house track titled Another Science and the B-side to A Million Years, the vocal centric, downtempo Everest. Listen to both below:

New York producer Computer Magic, aka Danielle Johnson, previewed a single on Stereogum today titled A Million Years. It’s an addicting piece of music with spacey pop/italo-disco flair and a popular throwback feel. The track will be released on 7" with another track Everest. I’ll be on the lookout for a preview of the B-side. I looked into Computer Magic and found some more electropop & house goodies below. I like. Very much.
