A new Superorganism music video is a must share in my books. The international collective are my favorite live act of the year. I caught them in Austin, then at their sold out debut at the Rickshaw Stop here in San Francisco but two days after I returned from SXSW. Each time was as much fun as the last. I can’t attend a Superorganism show without smiling and laughing my whole way through, the indie pop outfit just lifts my spirits with their whimsically squishy pop. Their self-titled debut album has quickly become one of my favorites of the year too, and I’ll likely keep it in my car as my go to pick-me-up for a long time to come. The band’s unique music, which has been compared to the likes of MGMT and Gorillaz both due to sound and performance style, is just incredibly catchy, fun, and playful, yet also immensely clever and astute. It’s just the warm, peppy radiance we need to get through any long day. Watch Superorganism’s adorable new video for one of the tracks off the album, Night Time, above. Remember to wag your head, flash your happiest grin, and tap your feet in joy (as if you need a reminder). Orono is as charming as ever as lead vocalist and the star of the video. One of the most endearing aspects of the band, besides their amusing stage presence, is their ability to perform their songs with a smattering of unconventional instruments and sounds (obviously their music is recorded in the same manner). For an additional treat, watch today’s brand new
La Blogothèque A Take Away Show performance below and bop to their disarming rendition of Everybody Wants To Be Famous. Do yourself a favor, catch the group later this year when they hit the road on yet another expansive tour. And get their debut album, here.

British drum and bass and soulful electronica collective Rudimental teamed up with an impressive list of collaborators on their new single, These Days, which is lifted from their forthcoming third album. Soul pop sensation Jess Glynne, rap mogul Macklemore, and rising R&B soul artist Dan Caplen join forces with Rudimental on the magnificent hymnal. The brassy soulful anthem is available, here. Hopefully, the arrival of These Days is a sign of many more new Rudimental songs and collaborations to come as we await further news regarding the new album.

I don’t know what kind of “doctrine” this mysterious new collective from Los Angeles is planning to teach us, but whatever it is, sign me up, I’m already a true believer! One “play” of Doctrine’s debut single left me with my jaw wide open in disbelief. The project involving a chorale ensemble named SACRA/PROFANA is described as a hybrid between choral music and indie pop. Their first song Play is a polyphonic masterpiece, a multi-layered electro hymnal that evokes the baroque artistry of San Fermin, Dirty Projectors, and Son Lux. It comes accompanied by a visual piece which you can watch below. Those of you in Southern California have the lucky opportunity to catch this enigmatic collective live when they play Gallery 1988 (West) on Saturday. Purchase tickets, here. My curiosity has been piqued sky high, and I’ll be awaiting any reports of how the show goes as well as more innovative music from Doctrine.

Guess what? New Clean Bandit! I’ve been looking forward to sharing this one, waiting for it to go public! The UK collective that everyone’s fallen deeply in love with (thanks to summer hit Rather be, featuring Jess Glynne) is going to release a deluxe edition of their debut album New Eyes. With it comes Stronger, a track that deserves to be on the regular release of the album! Playful, stringy, dainty, and endearing… Stronger is everything I’ve loved about Clean Bandit from the very beginning, when I first heard Mozart’s House and Dust Clears.

W.A.F. is a new Swedish collective that consists of a band, illustrators, and writers who are all working together on a multiplatform project called “The Roaring”, and over this past weekend, they presented their debut single WeSee at Comic Com Stockholm, alongside a preview and presentation of their upcoming one shot comicbook “WeSee: No Man Is An Island”. It all sounds very cool to me, as I love such DIY artistry that brings together talent of all kinds. On top of that, WeSee is a driving stomper of an indie rock song, one with a raw, garage rock vibe that reminds me of music by the now defunct WU LYF paired with some of the catchy folk flavors of some of Crystal Fighters’ more rustic music.

Everyone, say hello to Santa Maradona F.C., an “experiment”, “an anonymous collective of globe-trotting musicians and producers dabbling with genre curving soundscapes and collaborations”. Intriguing, no? Give Me Sunshine is the collective’s debut single, a vibrant, endearing song that features vocals by newcomer Lucy Spraggan, whom the collective found in a video online and wrote to out of the blue. Give Me Sunshine is a warm, laid back treat, full of folksy Balearic pop flavors and upbeat dance pop/melodic house buoyancy. It’s one of those songs that gives me the urge to spend a long, lazy day outdoors with my friends, doing nothing in particular… Catch the video for the tune below, too. The track will be out officially October 12 on Brock Wild Records.

I’m much delighted to have been introduced to Einar Stray Orchestra, today, because I have a huge soft spot for nook and cranny filling, soaring, lush orchestral folk pop music. The collective was once a five piece, releasing a debut album under name of lead musician Einar Stray, but they’ve since grown their numbers and plan to release a new album, Politiks, under the elongated name. Politricks will be out October 6 on Sinnbus. Stream the gorgeous, sonorous title track above, and watch the video for it below. For another beautiful, cinematic, stringy taste of Einar Stray Orchestra’s music, also check out the video for Caressed, below Politricks, from their 2012 EP For The Country. I’d love to catch these guys live. I find orchestral collectives to be overwhelmingly moving.

I have an undeniable penchant for saccharine boy-girl vocals, particularly when paired with mellifluous music and charming, sentimental lyrics. It’s no wonder that Nashville collective Terror Pigeon lured me in with new single Girl! the moment I started listening to it this morning. Their lo-fi indie synthpop music is pastoral and earnest, honeyed and melting, easily reminding me of music I love by a bevy of other past and present bands, such as The Postal Service, Freelance Whales, and Typhoon. It builds up in urgency and intensity as it progresses, completely enveloping you by the time it reaches the end with moving emotion. The dynamic and theatrical Girl! will be on Terror Pigeon’s new album Live It Up Before You Die It Up, out September 23 on Stay Magical. The collective was previously known as Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt, but have since shortened their name. For one of their old songs that I find myself quite fond of, stream [ride friendship.] below, an orchestral pop tune that would likely be amazing live, filling every nook and cranny of any room with beautiful noise.
