The searing heat of Australian singer songwriter Cleopold’s latest is a match for its name, Scarlet. Cleopold, whose been dropping some hot tunes since his collaborations with Miami Horror and Cassian, delivers smooth vocals and soulful funk on the drafty synthpop jam, which opens up with some even more spectacular production two thirds of the way through. Scarlet combines the velveteen swoons of Chet Faker with the uptempo house of RÜFÜS DU SOL.

You probably recognize Cleopold from all his terrific guest roles on vibrant, summery hits offered up by Miami Horror and Cassian, but the Australian singer songwriter is about to drop your jaw and swoon you to your knees with his debut single, Down In Flames. On the stunning single, Cleopold steps far away from the bright, radiant dance vibes we often associate him with. Instead, Down In Flames is a guttural, somber ballad, a soulful electronic song steeped in heavy darkness and lovelorn poignancy. Cleopold’s debut is gloriously stirring, lined with a certain earnest rawness and topped off with some snazzy, heart string tugging production. Down In Flames is a spectacularly produced song that evokes Atlas Bound and Chet Faker. Fittingly, the single was released on Chet Faker’s label, Detail Co

Cleopold is no stranger to summery nu-disco dance music. The singer songwriter featured on CASSIAN’s Running, plus he also sang on Miami Horror’s hot new single Love Like Mine. The Australian artist decided to whip up his own interpretation of said Miami Horror song, giving it a makeover that takes it down a notch to more gliding, airy levels of chillness. The remix is softly addictive and delicately whimsical in a relaxing, sublime way. I can daydream all day to this beauty.

I nearly had to pinch myself this morning to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. New Miami Horror? Today? The music gods must be having a marvelous day! The Los Angeles based Australian synthpop band’s new track is a lustrous jam named Love Like Mine, and it features Cleopold, which, of course, isn’t the first time the two acts have worked together on a tune. Sugary, dizzying, and wildly bombastic, Love Like Mine is a super sexy nu-disco and psychedelic funky pop tune. It’s months ahead of summer (on this side of the world), but Miami Horror certainly brings the heat early for us.

Southern California producer Plastic Plates follows up on his bumping track Feel The Fire from a week ago with a killer remix of Australian producer Cassian’s infectious, vibrant single Running, featuring Cleopold. The official remix is a funky edit with a dark edge. I’m a huge fan of the original, but boy am I loving Plastic Plates’ thumping, driving remix. Check out Feel The Fire below, too, if you haven’t heard it yet.

Guess who’s back? Australian producer Cassian! And what a return, with fresh new single Running, which features Cleopold. It’s the first single and release on Sweat It Out, having newly signed over. Out officially on October 31, Running is a ginormous treat of an electronic tune, full of confident bass and overwhelming vibrancy. It’s incredibly hard not to get up and start dancing my way around the office right with this flowing through my ears.

Most of the tunes I’ve featured today so far are prime candidates for a super summer playlist. The same can be said of this dreamy, nu-disco tinged remix of Miami Horror’s Colours in the Sky feat. OFFICIAL VID: Miami Horror – Colours In The Sky feat. Cleopold

February 18, 2014

Miami Horror dropped a video for their single Colours In The Sky feat. Cleopold, and that’s good enough reason to share the Australian electropop act’s new tune again. It’s such a warm, chillwavey, and superbly languid synthpop tune. There’s almost a Washed Out vibe to the song. Miami Horror is long, LONG overdue on a sophomore album after 2010’s Illumination. Hey, fellas, we’re waiting! And salivating!
