Not only is the claymation video for this new Montero single a visual treat, but the new song from the Australian musician is a dreamy spiraling, synth florid gem, too. Running Race sparkles wistfully, a glossy synthwave and foggy psych pop song that’s unsurprisingly co-produced with Tame Impala’s Jay Watson and Riccardo Damian. Montero’s new album Performer will be out on February 2nd via Chapter Music. Pre-order, here.

OFFICIAL VID: Landlady – Under The Yard

September 19, 2014

Brooklyn’s Landlady released their debut album, Upright Behavior, earlier this summer on Hometapes. Today, they dropped a claymation video, created by Hannah Darrah, for album track Under The Yard, a versatile indie rock tune that flows between psychedelic, hazy lushness and impassioned earthiness, like a blend of The Antlers, TV on the Radio, and Dirty Projectors. It’s a mystique filled art rock gem that’s thoroughly captivating and endearing.

“This song is fictional, sung by a person who’s in tune with the ground, his family, his organs, and ultimately knowing where he’d like to end up. By accident / on purpose it’s also about all of us. What we know and what we don’t know. What we’re hungry for and what we wish would stay a secret.”

Landlady is about to set out on tour to support the album.

OFFICIAL VID: Gentleman Hall – Every Morning

September 20, 2013

Boston indie alt rock band Gentlemen Hall sure made some big ripples earlier this year with their summer anthem Sail Into The Sun. Though their latest single Every Morning isn’t as infinitely catchy, it’s still a fantastic, ace tune filled with charming, make you melt moments, and explosive, energetic crescendos. Every Morning is newly accompanied by a cool claymation video that remind me of the golden years of MTV when they used to play MUSIC.

OFFICIAL VID: Kill The Noise – BLVCK MVGIC (Kill the Noise Pt. 2)

February 7, 2013

What the gjhsjghjghjghjgh?! This is some insane claymation from New York dubstep producer Kill the Noise. It’s as sinister as can be. Madness. Pure madness. BLVCK MAGIC is a sick instrumental dubstep track off Kill The Noise’s EP of the same title out on Skrillex’s label OWSLA. Seriously, if you get disturbed easily, don’t watch this video. Just listen to the track. If you’re a horror film buff, this is a must watch. BLVCK MVGIC is a great example of EDM. It’s not over the top and is a finely tuned balance between electro house and dubstep drops and wobbles.

OFFICIAL VID: Sufjan Stevens – Mr. FROSTY MAN

October 25, 2012

Even Sufjan Stevens is jumping on the horror bandwagon these days. As some of you know, the genius musician has been previewing tunes off an upcoming Christmas box set titled Silver & Gold. Here’s his claymation video for Mr. FROSTY MAN. There’s nothing vanilla about it. He dives right into that popular zombie fray, but this time, even jolly ol’ Santa becomes a zombie. The song itself is a short, jangly, anti-folkish tune. I can’t say I’ve loved all the Christmas previews so far, but I can say they’ve been unique and entertaining. Silver and Gold: Songs for Christmas drops on November 13, right before the holiday season really kicks into gear with Thanksgiving just around the bend.

OFFICIAL VID: Vadoinmessico – In Spain

May 7, 2012

My gosh, it’s a busy, busy day of new music and videos! Here’s the brand new video for Balearic influenced indie poppers Vadoinmessico’s In Spain. I love their laid back, folksy music filled with some of their signature Spanish instrumentals. The claymation video is colorful and fits the music well.
