I’ve always found cityscapes to be beautiful at night, with all the lights twinkling in the distance. I stare up into lit windows floating high above concrete ground, wondering about the stories playing out within closed walls. Viennese production duo Palastic encapsulates some of that wonder and a whole lot of sparkling nostalgia on City Lights, a beautifully tinkling, celestial twinkling single featuring Nevve and her beautifully supple, oft encountered voice on guest vocals. Palastic expertly combines dreamy guitar strums and brassy buoyant jabs with delicate and ethereal electronica on the lovely song, which can be purchased/streamed, here.

It’s been some time since we’ve heard from Milwaukee indie pop band GGOOLLDD, so it was a pleasant surprise when I encountered their new EP, For The Night, just released some days ago. I was hard pressed selecting a track to share from the four track release, but I settled on the pulsing vibrancy of second song City Lights. Its a catchy synthwaver and upbeat dancepop jam reminiscent of Metric’s synthpop with a dash of NONONO. Stream GGOOLLDD’s For The Night in full on Soundcloud.

OFFICIAL VID: NRVS LVRS – City Lights

February 5, 2015

San Francisco band NRVS LVRS released a video today for their wispy, whimsical first single, City Lights, a song I first heard on Live 105 show Soundcheck some months back and immediately fell in love with. It mixes sparkling minimalist pop qualities with hazy, darkly edged

futuristic pop vibes. It’s near impossible to resist the enchanting song’s cozy hand claps and intimate whistles. NRVS LVRS will be releasing a debut album, The Golden West, on March 15 via Hz Castle Records, and I can’t wait to hear what else the local act has to offer us.

I first heard NRVS LVRS’ City Lights on Live 105 radio show Soundcheck at least a month ago, maybe closer to two. I was immediately hooked to the earthy enchantment of the folk meets minimalist electronic pop gem. If my ears could perk up like cat ears can, trust me, they did at that moment. Suffice to say, I’ve been waiting since that evening to share City Lights with you. To add more icing to the delicious cake, NRVS LVRS hails from my dear beloved San Francisco. While their new single’s wispy vocals remind me of The Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan and Phantogram’s Sarah Barthel, the electronic flavors on the snappy, jangly treat and an underlying dark pop quality evoke a blend of Grimes and Purity Ring, but on a more minimalist, Sylvan Esso-esque scale. Intimate hand claps and whimsical whistling create an even more addicting, infectious atmosphere on City Lights. The endearing tune is the first single off NRVS LVRS forthcoming debut album The Golden West, which releases March 16 via Hz Castle Records.

I’m used to associating Future Classic with super dope producers that throw down some sick trap beats, since I’m a huge fan of the likes of Flume, Wave Racer, Cashmere Cat, and so many others off that label. So, I was delighted, albeit surprised, when I checked out a Future Classic artist by the name of Woolfy and heard a jangly, bouncy, acoustic guitar jam. City Lights is a joyful, summery jam, perfect for relaxing poolside on a laid back, carefree day. It’s the the title track off a new EP, out on limited 10" this week and out digitally March 31. The Los Angeles artist has produced some other way more electric, funkier tracks, sometimes in conjunction with DFA and Modular!
