If you’re one who likes to be haunted by the dark and eerie, Clams Casino is going to have your skin crawling and spine tingling with a seriously wicked remix of WET’s Weak. He turns the pillowy song into a droopy, syrupy work of dark art. It’s a sparse but droning refix that I’d love to lose myself in on Halloween night. Ghostly apparitions flicker across the atmospheric remix by the New Jersey producer.

Slowing things down with this sick ambient track I discovered earlier by a Vancouver producer named Nicholas Cheung. I AM (Unmastered) is such a thick, syrupy, and atmospheric bedroom jam with skittering drums and hypnotizing choppiness. It’s fluid, dreamy, and a great introduction to the producer, whose work I’ll certainly be checking out some more of, particularly late at night. Gorgeous. Sigh.

I’m certainly going through a block of lovely, downtempo music right now. Following up the last few with this beautiful remix of Mao’s No Love featuring Dems, by rising UK producer Luvian. We last heard of him via his amazing remix of SOHN’s The Wheel. Always adept at creating hazy, dreamy, atmospheric soundscapes, his remix of No Love is scintillatingly minimalist, yet lush.

Let me start by saying that I’m a rabid fan when it comes to Dan Snaith’s work as Caribou. I’m dying of impatience waiting for a new album after 2010 album Swim absolutely blew my mind. It’s still one of my all time favorite electronic albums. Don’t get me wrong, Dan’s work under his monikers Daphni and Manitoba is great too, but his Caribou work is just life changing for me. Of course, everyone who paid attention to the acclaim that Swim received back in 2010 knows that Odessa was one of the best and most popular tracks on the release. Berkeley based R&B artist Astronauts, etc., who has melted us with his sensual crooning in the past, released this terrific cover of Odessa today. He slows the dance beat down and creates a sexy, atmospheric, shimmering version that expresses such deep longing and wistfulness. It’s a dreamy track that blends Astronaut, etc’s pristine falsetto vocals with The Antlers-like post-rock beauty, as well as a James Blake like post-dubstep texture.

Mssingno – XE2

I’m not entirely sure how you pronounce either the producer or the song title, but I came upon this gorgeous electronic track earlier today. It hypnotized me on the spot. Mssingno is a producer from London. XE2 is a syrupy, shadowy composition that samples R. Kelly’s I’m a Flirt. The choppy treat is off his self-titled EP from November, which was released on young London label Goon Club Allstars.

Rising Los Angeles electronic R&B artist Banks teamed up with kick ass producer SOHN on her track Waiting Game, which is one of my favorite tracks she’s put out so far. Canadian producer Kaytranada, who’s made quite some ripples this past week, has released a remix of the track, creating a futuristic vibe with endless rich elements. The chopped up rendition is heavier on the hip hop influence. It’s a mesmerizing, magnetic listen that I’m revisiting later this evening. Kaytranada’s remix will be on a charity compilation in the works to fight AIDs, titled DANCE (RED).
