Rhum For Pauline is a band from Nantes, France, and they make an impressive dash onto my radar with a beautiful song named Pan Peter. Just like the story that inspired the song’s title, Pan Peter is a nostalgic piano ballad that seems to pine for youth gone by and mourn the loss of innocence that accompanies aging. Rhum For Pauline creates an atmospheric yet sparse sonic world on Pan Peter that seems fleetingly magical and majestically tender. Watch their gorgeous video for the song below, which was filmed in always breathtaking Iceland. Pan Peter is from the band’s first album, Leaving Florida, just released last week.

Quebec’s Fjord has given us some downtempo electronic pop music that brims with graceful elegance and luxuriant beauty. New song Shapes exudes that and plenty more, grooving warmly with a soft funk, again evoking bands like London Grammar and Poliça, in a very lush and refined manner. Fjord’s chill electronic pop swirls and hovers weightlessly with a soothing dreaminess. Head over to Fjord’s Soundcloud if you made the mistake of missing their earlier songs, Blue and Irrational.

There’s no denying that California production newcomer Frigo brings such a gorgeous summer hue to UK artist Cape Cub’s lovelorn, tender beauty, Swim. The folksy chill house transformation retains the original’s melting vocals, but enshroud it in a cool, mellow atmosphere that resonates gently yet deeply. It’s a fine way to revisit Cape Cub’s exquisite song, particularly in the heat of this season. I’m ready to dive into some sparkling water to take the edge off this seasonal heat. It would be a sublime experience to swim to this remix of Swim. Download Frigo’s remix for free, here.
