The modern day Renaissance man Donald Glover, otherwise known as Childish Gambino, cannot be stopped. You’ve been living under a rock if you haven’t heard Redbone from his most recent album. Not to sound hipster but I’ve always preferred Childish Gambino work from Camp and before. It is with much delight that I found out his first ep, simply titled “EP” is getting a re-release for stream. All five tracks on the EP are great pieces of poetry but nothing stands out to me more than Freaks and Geeks. Childish Gambino knew he was destined for greatness as revealed with one of his closing lines in this track “I’m in it to win it cause having an Emmy just wasn’t enough”. By next year I’m sure we’ll be writing about how Donald Glover got his E.G.G.O – an Emmy, Golden Globe, Grammy, and Oscar. I cannot wait to replay “EP” on Spotify tomorrow, to watch Atlanta season 2 in March, movies soon to come, and devour his new music via the new record deal he just signed.

Today, we learn that there can never be too many “Louis” cooking up beats in the sound kitchen, particularly when they consist of Los Angeles based electronic chef Louis Futon and Chicago electronic moguls Louis The Child. The two hot projects team up on a flip of a song very near and dear to this Cal alumni’s heart. They’ve taken on Childish Gambino’s ode to Oakland/Berkeley’s Telegraph Ave. and transformed the Donald Glover track into a timeless masterpiece of their own. Impressively enough, they did this all on tour too, from their tour bus, where they infused hazy wafting Telegraph Ave with a whole lot of brassy playful future bass and wonky trap energy. This is a much more mischievous teasing and whimsically waggish Telegraph Ave. Having spent a large amount of youthful time on the titular street myself, I must admit, there have certainly been moments when Louis Futon and Louis The Child’s Telegraph Ave would’ve befit my mood more than the laid back original. Watch a video about how Loui Futon and Louis The Child made their flip, here.

Donald Glover’s Childish Gambino continues to blow our minds with the new music he’s been revealing off of new album “Awaken, My Love!” due out December 2nd on Glassnote Records. On the heels of last week’s jaw dropping Me And Your Mama comes Redbone, a gooey trickling, spacey psychedelic funk and soul slow groover much like Danger Mouse gone Prince. Yes, it’s that sumptuous of a sexy jam. Pre-order what could very well be one of the best albums of 2016, here.

If you’re one of the few music loving people in the universe who still haven’t checked out Donald Glover’s new song as Childish Gambino, prepare to have your face melted. Childish Gambino hit Sober gets a summer radiant, sparkling resplendent makeover, thanks to Sweden’s Oliver Nelson. The producer’s slick and sexy disco house remix shines with uplifting exuberance, a buoyant and punchy approach that drenches Donald Glover with extra sassy allure. “Now I’m so high”, he coos. We believe you, Donald, because we feel the exact same way after twirling all over the room to Oliver Nelson’s remix. Download the track for free, here.

It’s been a few quiet months now since VÉRITÉ’s sophomore EP, but with the announcement of some new UK tour dates comes a brand new track from the female solo project based in New York. VÉRITÉ states that she really loves Childish Gambino’s Sober, and wanted to re-imagine it and make it all her own. Sure enough, the songstress brings us a very unique interpretation of Sober on her latest, giving it an electronic pop makeover that closes out with dizzying, frenetic turmoil. Her buzzing, woozy cover of Sober seems to be a spellbinding literal representation of Donald Glover’s lyrics.

Have you ever wonder what it might sound like if Miami Horror covered Childish Gambino? Neither have I, but as it turns out, Donnie Glover’s music and Australian synthpop is a heavenly combination. Miami Horror enlist Melbourne producer and vocalist Queen Magic on the track, and he delivers some cushy vocals on the opulently jazzy, funky synthpop rendition of Sober. I wouldn’t mind at all if Miami Horror offered up more tunes like this one, it’s pure, resplendent bliss. Download the track for free, here. Miami Horror will be playing some gigs this November and December in South America and California, with a stop at Mezzanine in San Francisco on December 1st. I might be overdue for some live Miami Horror yet again!

Well, hey, here’s a crazy good cover of Childish Gambino’s Sober by France’s LeMarquis. The producer says that he’s been listening to Donald Glover’s music for awhile now, and Sober is one of his favorites. Well, me too! And I must say, I love what LeMarquis has done to the track. Along with its deep bass and bumping beat, there’s an immensely Caribou like style of production on the future house track, with its psychedelic experimental moments and his use of sonic space and volume. This is mmm mmm good, and I’m about to jump on my personal socials to drop this track. That’s how much I love it.

By now, most music heads who follow on closely with trending new music and new artists on the rise have heard of, and likely fallen in love with Daniela Andrade and her honeyed, sweet vocals. The Canadian singer songwriter’s latest offering is a mellow, soothing cover of Childish Gambino’s Telegraph Ave, with a bit of Sober mashed into it, too. It’s a beautiful, pillowy cover, sure to raise some goosebumps and cause some shivers of bliss. Watch the golden voiced songstresses’ video for the cover below.

I don’t know about you, but I was rather surprised when I first heard Donald Glover’s single Sober a few months ago. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only one. Sober, unlike a large majority of Childish Gambino’s usual tunes, is a funky, synthy jam. Donald shows off some mad falsetto chops on the slick, glossy tune. Watch Childish Gambino’s new video for Sober below, in which he shows off his dance skills, too. Not only does Donald channel some MJ in the song, but in the video, as well. Sober is on his Kauai EP, out right now.
