Venerated Canadian dance duo Zeds Dead dropped a juggernaut remix pack for their 2016 album Northern Lights last week, and its chock full of incredible edits by esteemed talent. The pair’s collaborative track with Charlotte OC, Symphony, has been subjected to a dramatic gripping, epic whomping remix by Colorado’s Bear Grillz for the release. Symphony is still symphonious, but in a synth sawing, bass clobbering fashion that makes it a grand and intense sonic inferno. Northern Lights Remixes is available from retailers, here.

It’s been a long time coming, considering it was over three years ago that Charlotte OC first swept us off our feet with her beautiful voice and her pop allure, but come March 31st, debut album Carless People will be arriving on Harvest Records. The UK artist recently made her television debut on NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers too, where she performed the album’s lead single, Darkest Hour. We now rejoice over the regal resplendence of new album taster Shell, a lavishly bewitching slice of electro pulsing, smoky cruising pop. Charlotte OC’s debut album can be pre-ordered, here.

I knew there was something exceptional about Charlotte OC when I encountered the British chanteuse’s debut EP over two years ago. Fast forward to today, and her star continues to rise as she gives us a song as majestically heart rending as Darkest Hour. With her smoky soulful voice, Charlotte OC captivates us, pulling us into that very darkness with her before we break free of the gloom on fierce soaring wings. This beautiful pop ballad, its regal keys, spacious vastness, and choir driven resonance, is a cathartic revelation. Darkest Hour is about “watching someone you love become a prisoner in a toxic relationship and feeling powerless because there is nothing you can do to help”. Yet there’s a hopeful optimism in the way the song takes flight. The sultry soulful single, which was produced by Ima Robot’s Tim Anderson, is a towering preview from an album whose details will be revealed soon.

I’ve been keeping my eye on British artist Charlotte OC since the songstress fascinated and enamored me with Colour My Heart late last year. She fell quiet for months after, before returning with a sultry, dark treat, named Strange, a bewitching blend of Lana Del Rey like raspy vocals and BANKS like electronic production. It was well worth the wait. Revisit Colour My Heart with me below, a song that appeals to that part of me that really loves The Jezabels, though Charlotte OC is far more synthy and haunting.

It’s time for a block of remix dopeness for your hungry ears and restless feet! New British artist Charlotte OC easily hooked me some weeks back with her bewitching song Colour My Eyes. I really dig her raspy, Sarah Barthel (Phantogram) like vocals on the track. The original is a downtempo, slow burning ballad. Israeli producer Yarin Lidor remixed the track, creating this icy, electric dance take with very enticing glitchy elements. As if the tune weren’t already impossibly haunting…

So, check this new British songstress out! Charlotte OC dropped a debut EP recently, and Colour My Heart is the bewitching title track. She has some mad vocal skills, at first very much reminding me of Sarah Barthel of Phantogram with the raspy beginning. Then she launches into some more soulful, full bodied vocals. It’s all extremely captivating, and Colour My Heart is a beautiful, slow burner of a ballad. Looks like we have a new artist to watch!
