PC Music’s Danny L Harle teams up with Chairlift’s ever fabulous Caroline Polacheck on a new snappy pop gem named Ashes Of Love. Hearing Caroline’s voice framed in the fizzy electronica of Harle is a heavenly intoxicating experience. Ashes Of Love is a thrusting, throbbing hyper active spectacular, a Eurodance meets J-pop PC Music extravaganza. The wildly catchy, flashy popping treat is out right now on PC Music / Sony.

I’m greatly looking forward to Chairlift’s third full length album, Moth To The Flame, out very soon on January 22nd. While their video and song Amanaemonesia will always be a top favorite, they’ve succeeded at courting me with all the songs they’ve revealed off the new LP so far. The Brooklyn based duo have just revealed the title track off that LP, and Moth To The Flame is the catchiest taste yet with its uptempo groove and frisky aura. Caroline Polachek’s silky voice is always a welcome treat, too. The chorus on this one will be reverberating in my mind for much time to come. Pre-order Chairlift’s new album on iTunes or Amazon.

OFFICIAL VID: Delorean – Unhold feat. Caroline Polachek

I was actually just listening to Delorean’s recent album Apar just a few days ago while working out and really enjoying this track Unhold, which features Caroline Polachek of Chairlift on vocals. I even repeated the track after I finished the album and my work out. Quite fitting that a video was released about the same time for the track! The Balearic alternative dance band’s song soars gorgeously. Polachek’s heavenly vocals fit Delorean’s music perfectly.

Ballet School’s Heartbeat Overdrive is an intoxicating new single that brings to mind a blend of HAIM, Chairlift, and some Kate Bush and/or The Jezabels. It’s an indie pop track with some major oomph. The single comes out on August 19 off Bella Union. The new trio Ballet School hails from Berlin. Check out another track by the fresh act below. Ghost is a dreamy pop tune with some new wave vibes and super seductive vocals. The less frenetic track sounds at times like a sped up, less mopey Beach House tune infused with a little J-pop. Indeed, there are vocal comparisons that can be made between those on Ghost and that of Beach House’s Victoria Legrand. I’m keeping Ballet School on my radar!

Delorean’s Spirit

In other big indie news of the day, Spanish alternative dance band Delorean announced that they’ll release new album Apar come September. The new reportedly more polished release will feature vocalists rather than samples. In fact, it’ll feature a track with Caroline Polachek of Chairlift (cue Chairlift’s infectious Amanaemonesia getting stuck in my head yet again). They’ve also debuted their new song Spirit, a dreamy, airy, and crisp tune.

Brooklyn indie rockers Fort Lean are ready to drop a new EP titled Change Your Name next week. They’ve previewed another tune off that EP, The Mall. It’s a very bright, big sounded, enthralling rock song with some great, urgent guitar moments. It’s the second track previewed so far, with the first being the softer, wistful All The Lights. The EP is produced by Patrick Wimberly of Chairlift, and from these two previews, it’s something good to look forward to.

HAIM

October 17, 2012

Los Angeles’ HAIM is another one of those acts made up of siblings. There’s no slim pickings when it comes to sister acts these days. I guess musicality is, or can be, genetic? Though the trio of sisters have been working hard at the music game for many years, they still don’t have a full length album out. However, HAIM recently debuted a new song on BBC Radio 1. These ladies have a very retro sounding pop sound. I can hear some 90’s R&B in their music. Stream the new song Don’t Save Me below. The song reminds me of Chairlift, both in that 90’s sound and in the vocals that are not unlike Caroline Polacheck’s vocals. There’s seriously a retro R&B 90’s movement going on in certain sectors of the music machine lately.
