Apparently, Thanksgiving in America means everyone in the world should do awesome covers and remixes for us to enjoy. Another great cover to come out of the past day or so is this one by Ella Eyre, who just released her debut solo song ” target=”_blank”>Deeper last week after grabbing our hearts touring and singing with Rudimental. Ella offered up her version of the Gnarls Barkley hit Going On. Of course, she covers is fantastically. The horns, the percussion, the powerful soul of the track… it’s all a perfect fit for Ella Eyre.

OFFICIAL VID: Slaughterhouse – My Life ft Cee Lo Green

June 20, 2012

LOLOLOL. The intro on this is pretty funny tongue in cheek stuff. It pokes fun at rich celebrity rappers and stars Eminem himself. The song is a catchy mainstream rap and hip hop tune, as expected. This will certainly be all over the radiowaves in a short while. Personally, I was much more entertained by the intro to the video than the very decent song.

La Blogotheque catchup

February 16, 2012

I’ve been behind on checking out some of my favorite music session channels on youtube. So, naturally, I’m behind on some A Take Away Show sessions from La Blogotheque. I’ll do a quick catchup on a few of these right now. As always, the A Take Away Show series performances are breathtakingly beautiful. Love them. I’ll quickly jot these down.

First, The Twilight Sad. Ahhh… that accent and that music…. I would swoon if I were there. I would. For sure. They performed there gorgeous songs Sick and Alphabet on a sidewalk:

Next, Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit gave a raw performance of their songs In The Morning and Sailor:

Lastly, I’m not always a big fan of Cee Lo Green, but I must concede the man has some major talent and genius (not always used to full potential). Danger Mouse knew what he was doing when he collaborated with Cee Lo as Gnarls Barkley. Here’s Cee Lo’s A Take Away Show where he performed acoustic renditions of F*ck You and Wild Flower:

I know, I know…

If you’re like any of the many people I’ve heard it from, yes, I know, you’re sick of Cee Lo’s Forget You (F* You). But I happened to notice BBC has a Jason Derulo cover of it, and it’s pretty decent and a welcome change from the overplayed Cee Lo’s voice on the fun (but again, overplayed) song. He did a two song set in their studio, and there’s no doubt the man can sing r&b very well.

He also performed It Girl, and it’s definitely enjoyable to listen to some mainstream r&b/hip hop every so often, so don’t just hate cuz you think you’re hipsta and all. 😉
