We’re no expert when it comes to the fine tuning of label contracts and the bureaucracy that’s probably involved in the process, but we are glad that Austalian pop phenom Betty Who seems very content with her new return to independent status, and her first single as an indie artist is easily one of our favorite tracks from her in awhile. While Ignore Me has been picking up a lot of acclaim (check out our feature, here), it seems this new arrangement has also afforded the songbird a chance to make a sweet cameo on Dutch producer Don Diablo’s latest soaring dance anthem. Higher takes us on a swift serotonin ascent with its high energy, luscious pumping house, plus its music video is a barrage of amazing animal footage, including some adorable felines. Aside from music, animals and nature are probably my biggest passions. Combined with Don Diablo’s lifting opus and Betty Who’s sonorous vocals, this audio-visual package is pure sensory heaven. So why the critters and creatures? Higher is the title song for a wildlife feature film named Wild Amsterdam, playing in cinemas across Holland right now. Learn more about the film, here. Higher is taken from Don Diablo’s album, FUTURE, released last month and available, here.

Meow Meow Lullaby isn’t exactly the latest tune from indie rock veterans Nada Surf, after all it’s been around since just about the time I started getting into the band thanks to my obsession with The OC and its well put together soundtracks at the time.  The NYC four piece also lent the song several years ago to a compilation entitled “For the kids, too” put out by Nettwerk Records to benefit the Lili Claire Foundation, an organization that helps improve the lives of children (and their families) living with neurogenetic birth conditions. But come on, it’s Nada Surf, and it’s a song about cats, and it now has a brand new video with, you guessed it, adorable pussy cats! I couldn’t pass up on sharing! Let’s all meow along to the soothing lullaby as we lay our eyes on some cute felines. Now I can’t wait to go home to my very own clawed fluff ball. You can find Meow Meow Lullaby on iTunes, here.

Ah, yes, Dillon Francis is at it again, and in his own words, this might be the happiest remix he’s ever made in his life. Well, Australian band Strange Talk’s Morning Sun (and many of their other songs) are already some of the most high flying, luminous tunes of recent time. Imagine amping that up even more, and who else should do that, but DIllon Francis? If you need a pick me up, don’t pass up on this remix. If you need a smile, don’t pass up on this remix. Hell, this makes me want to toss tacos and cats all over the place in wild joy (Dillon fans get it, right?).

This one might be divisive for some, as I seem to be noticing on the internet, but I figured I’d finish up for the moment with the super fun and bouncy new Dillon Francis, as I tend to like to wrap things up with something joyful and buoyant. We Make It Bounce is a massive electronic rager that features big gun Major Lazer and Stylo G, whose involvement on the tune makes me automatically think of Clean Bandit. Together, they make it bounce. A lot. Like.. really, a lot.

It’s high energy rager moment before I call it a session so I can go cheer for my beloved Golden State Warriors in game 2 of the playoff series against the Clips! This one’s for all the trap fans out there (just like me), the taco bell fans, the cat fans, the big Dillon Francis face sign fans, and, oh yea, the DAFT PUNK fans, who were just punked by Arcade Fire less than 24 hours ago at Coachella! If none of that made sense to you, then it’s clear, you’re not a fan of any of the above. You can still enjoy this brand new remix of Daft Punk classic Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Dillon Francis, though. It’s a romping, fun take on the French electro house banger with some satisfying filthy drops and bounce.

Let’s finish with a banger for now. The fact that Chromeo is getting played on regular radio rotation speaks volumes about how well they’re doing this year. White Women is out soon, Jealous is exploding the charts, hooray for Chrome-ooooo! It’s about time, too, after being such a power house electrofunk act in the indie scene for so long. If you actually think a Chromeo tune doesn’t have enough banging beats and high energy, this Dillon Francis house remix of Jealous (I Ain’t With It) is for you. DF knows how to bring it. DF plus Chromeo? Rager! Side note: I can’t help but type “cats” and “taco bell” when I’m swiftly and mechanically typing the tags for this post. I wonder why that is? Dillon? HMMM?
